Weekly McMeen Nurse Message

10/12/22, 8:42 AM

Good Morning McMeen Families,

A big thank you 🦷😁 to all families who consented for students to participate in last week's Free Denver Health Dental Sealant Program. It was a very successful week with a total of 79 students receiving dental screenings and placement of 94 sealants!

The dental hygienist that was with us last week only contacted families if their student is in need of further follow-up dental care. If she was unable to get a hold of a parent/guardian of a student with this need, a referral for the student will be placed with Denver Health's patient navigator.

Sealants are a wonderfully, non-invasive way to protect children's teeth in order to support avoiding cavities. Cavities are one of the leading chronic health conditions in children and can lead to chronic pain, infection, and illness to other areas of the body.

The Denver Health School-Based Oral Health Program is free to ALL DPS students, regardless of financial, insurance and residency status.

If your child did not participate in last week's sealant program and you wish to receive oral health services for your student, please call the Denver Health School-Based Oral Health Program at 303-602-0884 or visit their webpage at https://www.denverhealth.org/services/school-based-health-centers/school-based-dental-clinic.

   In Good Health,

 Nurse Miriam
