Good Afternoon and Happy Wednesday McMeen Families!

  😣😖😫🤢🤧🤮😷🤒

How sick is too sick for my student to be at school? This can be a tough decision to make as a parent. Here are some guidelines to refer to in order to help determine if your child should stay home or not. (These are actually great guidelines for adults as well🙂)

*** Please know that any time a child has a body temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher, they need to stay home and not return to school until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever reducing medications (cold medicine, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, etc.). I

Even without a fever, if you find that the only way your child feels well enough to attend school is by giving them any sort of medication that they do not take regularly (Pepto-Bismol, Tylenol, Cold Medicine. etc.) they should probably stay home.

Below, you will find a more comprehensive guide from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) regarding symptoms and when you child should stay home.

  Current COVID guidelines:

   - If your child tests positive for COVID, please contact Nurse Miriam.  You child will need to stay home and isolate for 5 days. As long as their symptoms improve, and they have been fever free for at least 24 hours without medication, they may return to school. It is highly recommended your child wears a mask at school for another 5 days to reduce community transmission.

- If your child has been exposed to someone with COVID and does not have any sick symptoms, they may attend school. It is recommended that your child wear a mask at school for 10 days after their last exposure to the person with COVID. If your child develops sick symptoms during these 10 days, they should stay home and a COVID test should be administered.

If you find you're still having trouble deciding if your child should stay home from school, please feel free to reach out to me, Nurse Miriam.

Thank You All and Keep Well!
