DSST: Cedar Middle School

All DSST schools earn highest performance rating

09/09/22, 11:00 AM

Dear DSST Friends,

After three years of not issuing School Performance Ratings of Colorado’s public schools, the Colorado Department of Education released the 2021-22 results this week. I am thrilled to share that all 15 DSST Public Schools earned a green rating, the highest rating given in the framework. I am grateful for all the hard work these ratings represent by our students and staff during a very challenging last school year. I want to especially congratulate DSST: Cole high school and middle school for both achieving a green rating after a couple of years of below-green ratings. It is truly a community effort that highlights DSST’s commitment to student academic growth and our ability to deliver on it.

The Colorado School Performance Ratings are based on student outcomes on key performance indicators: Academic Achievement, Academic Growth, and Postsecondary & Workforce Readiness. You can learn more about the rating system and your school’s rating here

While I am grateful for the consistent excellence these ratings demonstrate, it is clear that we have a lot of hard work ahead of us after the last couple of years. We must catch our students back up in their academic proficiency and college readiness, and close opportunity gaps between different student populations. We must become more effective in our core work of educating students, full stop.

As we enter our 19th year as an organization, we have a big opportunity to make a difference in the educational journey of our students. We are ready to rise to this challenge. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and encouragement, we could not do this important work without you.

All my best,
Bill Kurtz
CEO, DSST Public Schools
