Dear DSST: GVR Families:

You may have already heard that there is a walkout happening near our campus this morning by members of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Early College community related to an issue on their campus. The walkout route includes our campus and may overlap our students’ lunch periods, and there are members of the media currently on the DMLK campus.

We do not anticipate any of our students participating in or being affected by the walkout. We do have additional support from DPS Safety & Security on campus today and have aligned with leaders from all schools on our campus to ensure we have adult presence throughout the campus.

DSST remains as committed as ever keeping our kids safe, including ensuring all safety protocols are being followed with enhanced vigilance, monitoring and buzzing in visitors at our main entrances, keeping other exterior doors closed and locked and ensuring all staff and visitors have identification.
