Good evening Denison Montessori community! We are halfway through April and over halfway through with CMAS testing. We have an early release day this Wednesday and a professional day for teachers this Friday, April 19th, which means no school for students! We have lots of events and celebrations planned before this school year ends, so please be sure to keep an eye on the Mark Your Calendars section below so you don’t miss out on any of the action! Bullying Prevention Tip: Many resources have been shared so far this year to help families and students to recognize the signs of bullying, report bullying, and recognize cyberbullying. One proactive strategy to prevent bullying is by practicing kindness. When adults model recognizing the positives each person brings to a situation or classroom, students learn to celebrate others and act with kindness. We can work to end bullying by acting with kindness and helping our students learn to do the same.

Announcements

The spring BESS (socio-emotional screening tool) screening window is now open through April 26th. This screening is completed by students in grades 3-6th, teachers, and parents. It collects valuable data that helps Denison staff members better support students’ mental health and social-emotional needs. You can find the link in our Instagram bio or at tinyurl.com/bessparent2324. You will need your student’s ID number to complete this survey. You can look up your child’s ID number through DPS’s Parent Portal. All families who complete this screening will be entered in a drawing for a $25 Target gift card and two lucky winners will be selected. Thanks for your help!
Denison Montessori’s talent show, Denison’s Got Talent, is returning on Thursday, April 26th, at 5:30 pm in our multi-purpose space. Auditions will be open to students in 1st - 6th grade and will take place during lunch on April 16th.
April means a return of street sweeping in our neighborhood. Please see the attached flier for the street sweeping schedule. Tickets are regularly issued, even if you are only parked in a street sweeping zone for a few minutes, so please pay attention to signage and avoid a ticket!
Please consider participating in Families of Denison Montessori’s (FDM) 5th Annual Denison Achieves silent auction fundraiser. The theme is "Imagine the possibilities.” FDM sees a beautiful garden, friendships and fun, is inclusive to everyone, is planning for unique programs for children and adults, and we see expansion at Denison Montessori for all. The virtual silent auction will be held on Thursday, April 18th, 2024. This special event will be an important community building time to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments and resilience of Denison Students and Staff and to provide an online opportunity for community support in an environment that is safe. The silent auction app, Bidbeacon, will be available the week of April 15th. See this link for more information.
