Good evening, Denison Montessori community. It’s definitely starting to feel like spring with the warmer temperatures and more daylight. Spring also means more events and activities taking place here at Denison. Our 4th and 5th grade basketball team finished up a successful first season and now Girls on the Run starts this week. There are class and individual pictures, the Scholastic Book Fair, and field trips coming up soon. We’ve also updated our lobby bulletin board to celebrate Women’s History Month. Attention to Attendance: So far this school year, we have improved our overall attendance rate by 3% compared to our attendance rate last year. We are averaging 91% attendance for the year. Thank you for prioritizing your child’s attendance! However, we are still below our goal of 95% daily attendance for all grades. It’s important that we finish the year with strong daily attendance. Please be in communication with your child’s teacher and the attendance line (720-424-8094) so we know the reason for your child’s absence. We appreciate your support.

Announcements

The Scholastic Book Fair will be returning to Denison the week of March 11th - 15th. Please watch for more information coming soon about the items available and the times it will be open in the Dr. Martha Urioste Library and Media Center.
Families of Denison Montessori (FDM) will be holding our annual virtual fundraising auction on Thursday, April 18th. Please check out this link and see the attached documents for more information.
Summer Connections is a free, five-week academic program that is open to all rising first through fifth-grade DPS students at eligible schools from June 17-July 19 (no classes will take place June 19 or July 4-5). This full-day program focuses on preparing elementary students for future success.Registration for Summer Connections is now open and spaces are limited! For more information, call 720-423-3629 or email EAL@dpsk12.org.
The Family of Community Engagement is offering a Social Media Safety for Families Workshop on March 12 from 5-6 p.m. This session will provide resources and tips for families on the dangers of social media and how to help students stay safe and smart online. Families will gain valuable information and collaborate with other families on technology safety solutions. DPS will launch an interactive training module for DPS families as well to use after this session and receive certification they have completed the training. Families can learn more and RSVP here.
