Good evening, Denison Montessori. I hope you have stayed warm over this incredibly cold weekend! I hope you took some time to reflect on the important work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at some time over this long weekend. Please be sure to see the student artwork in the main entrance that Ms. Jennifer added to the display case to honor the importance of Dr. King’s work and legacy.

We would also like to say thank you to the 142 families who shared feedback for Denison Montessori via DPS’s Your Voice/Tu Voz survey. We will be using this feedback to continue rebuilding our families engagement opportunities for our community. Have a great week and stay warm!

Bullying Prevention Tip: According to the PACER National Bullying Prevention Center, 57% of children who experience bullying in schools don’t report it to an adult at school. Please check out these tips on how you can help your child report any bullying behaviors to an adult at school so we can stop bullying at Denison Montessori.

Announcements

Montessori Academy of Colorado offers a Montessori education for 7th and 8th grade students. They are hosting an open house on January 24th. Please see the attached flier for more information.
Deadine extended: The winter BESS screening window is now open through February 2nd. This screening is completed by students in grades 3-6th, teachers, and parents. It collects valuable data that helps Denison staff members better support students’ mental health and social-emotional needs. You can look up your child’s ID number through DPS’s Parent Portal

Denison Montessori’s CSC met last week. Please review the minutes here and plan to join us for a special edition budget CSC meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd, at 4:15 in the Dr. Martha Urioste Library. The meetings are open to all parents and community members. Come contribute to the conversation about how we prioritize our budget for the 2024-2025 school year.
DPS Discount Days are back! Join DPS in supporting the CU Men's and Women's Basketball teams! The men's team faces Oregon State on Saturday, January 20th at 5:00 p.m. at the CU Events Center. The CU Women's Basketball team takes on USC on Sunday, January 21st at 1:00 p.m. at the CU Events Center. Tickets start at $10.
