Good evening, Denison Montessori community. We truly enjoyed seeing your children back in the building last week! Many of them expressed happiness about being back in school, too! We celebrated almost 70 students who had 95% attendance and two or fewer tardies for the first semester, which was a fun way to start the second semester. Please send your students to school with cold weather gear this week, as we will continue to go outside for recess as much as the weather and temperatures will permit. Have a great week!

Montessori Moment: Montessori classrooms are called prepared environments. They are designed to support the children as they grow their absorbent mind through exploration and learning. The prepared environments include a Montessori trained lead teacher, an appropriate number of children to promote social development, and feature a mixed, three year age group in each class. The quality, creativity, and cross-disciplinary nature of student work illustrates the intelligence and curiosity of Montessori students.

Announcements

Now that winter has fully arrived, families should be prepared for possible delayed start or school cancellation days. Notification of a delayed start or school closure will be shared through the ReachWell app, Instagram, and Facebook. If DPS decides to delay the start of school:
- 1st-6th grade student can arrive at Denison at 10:05 am with classes starting at 10:25 am
- ECE3 half day programs will be canceled.
- ECE4 preschool and kindergarten students will attend school with sign in starting at 10:30
- Breakfast will still be available to students as they arrive at school.
- Afternoon dismissal will take place at the regularly scheduled times

Denison’s lost and found has accumulated a lot of items over the course of the school year. We will be donating any unclaimed items at the end of the day on Friday, January 12th. If you would like to check for lost items before this date, please sign in at the main office before visiting the lost and found.
Denver Public Schools has created a Community Hub at Johnson Elementary, which is right down Jewell from Denison. Please check out the attached flier to see the resources that are available to our students and families.

Momento Montessori: Las aulas Montessori se llaman entornos preparados.
