Good evening, Denison Montessori community! What a cold weekend! If the temperature is over 25 degrees, we will take 1st-6th graders outside for recess. Please be sure to send your child to school with warm outerwear so they can stay warm on cold days. If you need assistance with winter gear for your child, please reach out to the main office so we can help get your child what they need. If it is too cold to hold outdoor recess, please drop your child off at the main entrance so they can go to breakfast or indoor recess in the gym. Stay warm and have a great week!

Bullying Prevention Tip: As students have access to phones and computers at younger ages, it’s important that parents continue to monitor their use of social media, messaging, and game apps to ensure they are not experiencing bullying or bullying others. Attention to Attendance: October is just about over and we will soon be checking to see which students are meeting our monthly goal for 95% or above attendance with 2 or fewer tardies. We will also be acknowledging students who have shown improved attendance for the month of October. We hope to be able to honor your child!

Announcements

Our staff works hard to ensure that children are safe and that the building is secure at Denison Montessori. If you are joining your child for breakfast in the morning, you may head to the multi-purpose room without a visitor’s badge. If you enter the building during school hours for reasons other than breakfast and need to go past the main lobby, you must check in at the main office and receive a visitor’s badge before accessing the rest of the building. This helps our staff know that all adults have been approved to be in the building. Thank you for your help in keeping our building safe.
Denison’s 6th grade students have organized our first spirit week of the school year. It will take place October 30th - November 3rd. The themes for each day are listed below. We hope to see students and staff members join in the fun!
- Monday, 10/30: Rainbow or favorite color day
- Tuesday, 10/31: Pajama day (no costumes, we don’t celebrate Halloween)
- Wednesday, 11/1: Mismatch day
- Thursday, 11/2: Silly hair day
- Friday, 11/3: Denison colors/spirit wear day
On November 14th, Denison is happy to announce the return of our Fall Feast meal. Starting November 1st, a limited number of tickets will be available for purchase for family members to join their students to celebrate, payable by cash or check. Adult tickets will cost $7 and child tickets (for students who don’t attend Denison) will cost $5. You must have your ticket to attend the meal on 11/14. Please watch for more details in early November about the time your child’s grade level will be attending the Fall Feast.
Registration for the winter session for after school enrichment begins on Thursday, October 26th, and closes on November 9th. Any Denison student can sign up to join these after school programs. Please see the DENISON MONTESSORI WINTER ENRICHMENT BROCHURE 23-24 for session descriptions, dates, scholarships, and registration. Reach out to enrichment_extendedlearning@dpsk12.org with any questions.
Our first Watch Me Work night will feature our Upper Elementary students and will be held on Thursday, November 16th, starting at 5:30 p.m. Please watch for more details about this 4th-6th grade event from your child’s teacher. Watch Me Work nights for ECE3-3rd grade students will be scheduled later this school year.

All students and parents can take advantage of free breakfast every day that students have school. It’s a great way to start the day! All students are eligible for free lunch this year, thanks to the state of Colorado and Colorado voters. Students will need to pay for second servings of the lunch entree.
