Good evening, Denison Montessori community. We have so many things to celebrate this week. We loved having most of our students back in the building this week and look forward to seeing our new 3 year olds join us this week. It is such a relief to have cool classrooms so our students can focus and learn. Families did a great job adjusting to the kiss and go lane in front of the school and are regularly pulling all the way up the front of the line to maximize space for drop off. The year is off to a great start!

Montessori Moment: At least once per month this year we will share information about Montessori education to help our families learn more about the benefits of Montessori education. Montessori classrooms place an emphasis on hands-on learning and developing real-world skills. They emphasize independence and view children as naturally eager for knowledge, capable of initiating learning and providing a sufficiently supportive and well-prepared learning environment.

Announcements

Regular, on-time attendance is critical to helping your child or children adjust to the routines at school. Denison Montessori has set attendance goals for an overall attendance rate of 93% with 98% of students arriving on time daily. Please review our Family Attendance Guidelines for more information.
We prioritize the socio-emotional health of all Denison students and would like parent input to help us with this work. DPS uses a tool called the BESS, Behavioral and Emotional Screening System, that allows parents, teachers, and students in grades 3-6 to provide input concerning their socio-emotional well-being. Since our youngest children do not complete the survey, we are asking all families of students in ECE3-2nd grade to complete this survey. Families of students in 3-6 are also welcome to complete the survey. Please use the BESS Parent/Caregiver Screening flier to support parents/caregivers in the completion of the screening. Registration Deadline Extended! Denison Montessori is excited to announce the return of after school enrichment programs. Please read the DENISON FALL ENRICHMENT BROCHURE 23 to see if there is a course that interests your child. Please e-mail enrichment_extendedlearning@dpsk12.org if you have any questions! The last day to register is Tuesday, August 29th.
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a federal benefit that aims to connect these individuals by providing eligible households with a discount of $30/month toward their home Internet bill or $75/month for households on Tribal lands. Please see the attached flyers for more information.
