Good evening, Denison Montessori community.  As we begin the last week of April, we have many events and ways to get involved outlined below.  We hope you find time to join us at Denison soon!

 

Announcements

  • Spring individual and class pictures are scheduled with Lifetouch Pictures on Tuesday, April 25th and Wednesday, April 26th.  Orders can be placed online at MyLifetouch.com or using the attached order forms.  For individual spring pictures, please use Event Code  EVTHBV646.  For Group Pictures please use Event Code EVTXMSK6V.  The event codes will be active until April 28th.  Should you miss this deadline your next opportunity to order will be when your child receives his/her proofs, which is usually 2 to 3 weeks after picture day.  The proofs will have a unique access code and portrait ID # that can be used to place your order.  Should you have any questions regarding orders please contact Lifetouch Parent Line at 1-800-736-4753.

  • Save the Date, April 27th! Presenters, Dr. Katie Lohmiller and Halley Gruber from Educational Access Group (EdAG) will return to Denison to offer our community information on brain development and function, the impacts of stress and trauma, and what we can use and consider as caregivers and educators to best support our students. Content will be based on Dr. Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) and will be applicable to both new participants and those who attended the February session.  Childcare and food will be provided, as well as Spanish and Vietnamese interpretation services.  We hope to see you there!

  • Denison’s Cinco de Mayo Festival is right around the corner.  If you completed a background check last year before Cinco to support our school, you WILL need to complete a new background check prior to this year’s event in order to volunteer this year. You can get the process started by clicking here and choosing the volunteer background check portal.   

  • We have added two spring tour dates, May 2nd and May 10th, for new families planning to attend Denison next year or for families considering choosing Denison during the second round of DPS’s School Choice. To sign up for one of these tours, please visit our Sign-Up Genius soon, as spots are limited. 

  • Generation Teach STEAM Academy will be offered for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in DPS district run schools. Highlights of this program include free, full-day programming running from Monday - Friday, June 14 - July 21, 2023, free breakfast & lunch, free transportation to/from local middle and elementary schools, small classes with hands-on learning, engineering, math, reading, and law classes, afternoon enrichment classes (art, sports, games, and movement), and field trips and fun Fridays (skating, swimming, and more).  Please see the flier linked here for more information.  

  • Early Bird Registration will now open on Monday, May 8 via DPS’s Parent Portal and will close on Wednesday, May 19.  Please watch for information about in person registration at Denison in August.  

  • The Colorado Department of Early Childhood wants to build and improve programs and services to support young children and their families. They are asking families to complete a short survey to help them identify and fund the appropriate support.  Please see the attached fliers for more information and links/QR codes for survey access.  

  • Movement Englewood is offering summer climbing camps.  Please see the attached flier for more information.
