Good evening, Denison Montessori community. I hope everyone is starting to get adjusted to the time change. I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to more daylight in the evenings. As usual, we have many things going on as we get closer to spring break at the end of this month, so check out all the different ways to contribute to our community. Have a great week!

Announcements

Friday, March 17th, is a professional development day for our ECE3, ECE4, and Kindergarten staff members ONLY. This means there is no school for the students in Ms. Mary, Ms. Liz, Ms. Hanna, Ms. Bami, Ms. Maria and Ms. Patricia’s classes.
Mark you calendars for March 17th, when Ms. Ely, Denison Montessori’s school psychologist, will host her next TSEAL coffee talk from 9:15 - 10:00 in our library. This session will focus on understanding developmental milestones for elementary aged children. We hope to see you there!
DPS’s next district MLE DAC meeting will be on March 22nd at West High School. This meeting will be held in the morning, from 9:30 am - 11 am. Topics for this month’s meeting include information on several DPS summer programs available to families, including Summer Connections, MS Gen Teach, HS Summer School, and Project 2020x.
Primary classrooms (3 year olds, 4 year olds, and kindergarteners) will be hosting their Watch Me Work Night on Thursday, March 23, from 4:30 - 5:30 pm. The Montessori on Wheels bus, Rungano, will be back on the blacktop that afternoon, too, from 4:30 - 6:30.
As a reminder, CMAS begins at the end of this month. Testing will take place March 21, 22, 23 and April 11, 12, and 13 for all students in grades 3-6. Additionally, fifth graders will take the CMAS Science test on April 17, 18, and 19. Please schedule any appointments or travel around these dates. In the event that your child may need accommodations for Ramadan observations on test days or if your child's Chromebook or charger is missing, please contact Ms. Tara (tara_crewe@dpsk12.net) to make arrangements.
Denison’s School Leadership Team met earlier this month to finalize our arrival and dismissal times for the 2023-2024 school year. We will continue to offer recess and breakfast before school, starting at 8:05. Lower and Upper Elementary students will start class at 8:25 and be marked tardy if they arrive after this time. Sign in for Primary students will begin at 8:30. Primary dismissal and sign-out will start at 3:15 and end at 3:25. Lower and Upper Elementary dismissal will start at 3:25 and end at 3:35.
Save the Date, April 27th! Presenters, Dr. Katie Lohmiller and Halley Gruber from Educational Access Group (EdAG) will return to Denison to offer our community information on brain development and function, the impacts of stress and trauma, and what we can use and consider as caregivers and educators to best support our students. Content will be based on Dr. Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) and will be applicable to both new participants and those who attended the February session. We hope to see you there!
