Announcements

Interested in volunteering at Denison Montessori? All DPS volunteers must complete a background check before working inside or outside our school. You can get the process started by visiting https://app.sterlingvolunteers.com/en/Candidates/Account/Register. Your approval is good for one year, so please re-apply this spring if you are planning to volunteer for our Cinco de Mayo festivities in May and you applied in April or early May last year.
We know that parking is a challenge for our school community. Many times, this leads to folks parking in the bus lane during afternoon pick up. DPS’s Department of Transportation has requested that we remind our community to please refrain from parking in the bus lane at the south end of Yates. This will help us keep our students who ride the bus safe as they board each afternoon. Thank you for your cooperation with this request!
Friday, March 17th, is a professional development day for our ECE3, ECE4, and Kindergarten staff members ONLY. This means there is no school for the students in Ms. Mary, Ms. Liz, Ms. Hanna, Ms. Bami, Ms. Maria and Ms. Patricia’s classes.
Mark you calendars for March 17th, when Ms. Ely, Denison Montessori’s school psychologist, will host her next TSEAL coffee talk from 9:15 - 10:00 in our library. This session will focus on understanding developmental milestones for elementary aged children. We hope to see you there!
Primary classrooms (3 year olds, 4 year olds, and kindergarteners) will be hosting their Watch Me Work Night on Thursday, March 23, from 4:30 - 5:30 pm. The Montessori on Wheels bus, Rungano, will be back on the blacktop that afternoon, too, from 4:30 - 6:30.
As a reminder, CMAS begins at the end of this month. Testing will take place March 21, 22, 23 and April 11, 12, and 13 for all students in grades 3-6. Additionally, fifth graders will take the CMAS Science test on April 17, 18, and 19. Please schedule any appointments or travel around these dates. In the event that your child may need accommodations for Ramadan observations on test days or if your child's Chromebook or charger is missing, please contact Ms. Tara (tara_crewe@dpsk12.net) to make arrangements.
Registration is now open for Summer Connections, a fun five weeks where students will be exposed to content from their upcoming grade. All rising first through fifth-grade DPS students are encouraged to apply! This program is available at no cost to families and offers full day programming from June 12-July 14, with no school on June 19 and July 4. Students will have opportunities for Literacy, math, science, and hands-on learning. Registration is now open! Visit Parent Portal to sign up. DPS encourages families to commit to the full five-week program. If you have any questions, please contact EAL@dpsk12.net.

The Denison Achieves Silent Auction is April 20th-21st. This brings funds for classroom support and materials. Kacey Bennett, FDM chairperson, manages this program. Email FDM at fdmontessori@gmail.com for questions. If you, family, friends, or someone in the community would like to make a donation, please see the attached donation letter and receipt. We accept just about anything and sometimes combine donations to make a package. Anything helps!

¿Interesado en ser voluntario en Denison Montessori? Todos los voluntarios de DPS deben completar una verificación de antecedentes antes de trabajar dentro o fuera de nuestra escuela.
