Additional Information about Safety on Campus

Dear Denison Montessori Community,
It is our priority to keep you informed of events regarding student safety. Over the last week, we had a couple of Secure Perimeter situations due to incidents with people who are experiencing homelessness. We have been working with our Department of Safety and the Denver Police Department to address the concerns brought up by the recent activity around our school. Out of an abundance of caution, we took measures to secure the perimeter of the school until we received information that there was no more need for concern.
We are working with the community to address these issues. Our efforts include asking the City of Denver to help us ensure that students are safe while they are on the playground and on their way to and from school. Our Department of Safety is aware and monitoring the situation while working closely with Denver Police.
We would like to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority at Denison Montessori school. Our school works closely with the Department of Safety & Security and Denver Police to look into all safety incidents that occur at our school and anything suspicious that may occur in the neighborhood.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind our community about what resources are available for anyone who suspects danger to themselves or others. If you or your student hears of a threat made against another student or the school, we want them to report it immediately to a trusted adult, Safe2Tell at 877-542-7233, online at https://safe2tell.org, or the Denver police non-emergency number at 720-913-2000.
