Good evening, Denison Montessori. Thank you for your support and understanding as we had to navigate Denver’s extreme temperatures last week. We know this causes issues for many families and want to acknowledge the flexibility and understanding you showed last week as we worked to keep our children and staff safe in our hot building. We are looking forward to slightly cooler temperatures this week that should allow us to return to our regular daily schedule.

Announcements

The Denison community has been invited to attend an event named Gracias Christmas Cantata, courtesy of one of our wonderful families. You can watch the promotional video here and check out the attached document for more information, including a QR code for free tickets. (Include attachments)
The Denver Public Library’s Bookmobile is returning to partner with Denison Montessori again this year. The first visit of the year will take place on Thursday, September 15th. Please watch for information from your child’s teacher about their classroom visit to the Bookmobile.
As a reminder about your student’s attendance, an excused absence requires approval by both the parent or guardian and the school. In some cases, documentation from the parent may be required so that the school can excuse an absence. One example would include a note from a health care provider. For more information, please see the Denison Montessori Family Handbook.
The parking lot on the west side of the building is reserved for staff members only and will be closed by our facilities staff approximately 45 minutes prior to dismissal. If your car is parked in the lot once the gates are closed, you will not be able to exit the lot until the lot is reopened once all dismissal is completed. Please do not park in the staff parking lot driveway during arrival or dismissal as well. Thank you for your cooperation in finding other parking.
Interested in volunteering at Denison? Every volunteer must complete DPS’s volunteer background check. Please visit https://equity.dpsk12.org/get-involved/volunteer-services/ and click on a purple bar on the right side of the screen that says "Volunteer Background Check Portal." Click that to access the background check. Once completed, the background check is good for one year. For assistance with the process, please email Volunteer Services at Volunteer_Services@dpsk12.org or call 720-423-3002.
Attached to this week’s Denison Digest, you will find the preliminary Transitional 2022 SPF report CDE has created for our school. We are excited to share that we are a “green” Performance school! Please let us know if you would like to access the attached documents in another language, as we can provide you with an interpreter and/or translated documents.
