Good evening, Denison Montessori community. I hope you enjoyed time with family and friends over the long holiday weekend. We are expecting a hot week, so please read the information about potential early release heat days below. Be sure to send your student with a water bottle to stay hydrated and keep your fingers crossed for some fall temperatures to come our way soon!

Announcements

Heat Update: Tuesday is an early release day due to heat. Dismissal is at 12:30 p.m. Students will have the option to get a sack lunch at school if they usually eat hot lunch. Lower Elementary will eat lunch as scheduled at 11:30. Primary and Upper Elementary will not be on a regular lunch schedule. Bus service will be available, but if you do not want your child to ride the bus, please call the main office by 11:30.
Back to School Night is scheduled for next Wednesday, September 7th, from 5:00 - 6:30 pm. The schedule is included as an attachment to this message. The event will start on the black top, so please come to the back of the building for a meet and greet with Ms. Natalie and other Denison teachers and staff. Adults will enter the building from the west side of the building once the classroom sessions begin. This event is for adults only. We will have outdoor child care available at no charge for children aged 3 and up. Please plan other care for children younger than three so that teachers can focus on getting adults the information about the new school year. Thanks for your understanding of this request.
Interested in volunteering at Denison? Every volunteer must complete DPS’s volunteer background check. Please visit https://equity.dpsk12.org/get-involved/volunteer-services/ and click on a purple bar on the right side of the screen that says "Volunteer Background Check Portal." Click that to access the background check. For assistance with the process, please email Volunteer Services at Volunteer_Services@dpsk12.org or call 720-423-3002.
Thank you to the individuals who have reached out about joining Denison’s Collaborative School Committee (CSC). We are still looking for one or two more parents/guardians to join Denison’s CSC. The meetings are typically once a month and we usually have to add an extra meeting or two during budget season, which is January and February. We ask folks to make a two year commitment once they decide to join. Our first meeting is Tuesday, September 13th, at 5pm in the library at Denison. If you are interested, you could come to the first meeting then decide if you are interested in becoming a member. Please email Ms. Natalie with questions or to commit to joining.
Calling all chromebook chargers! We are missing 40 Chromebook chargers and need your help in finding them. If you have an extra Chromebook charger at home, please drop it off at the main office (or ask your student to do so). Label the charger with our tech support person’s name, Isaac Parsons. Thanks for your help in getting these back to the school.

Actualización de calor: el martes es un día de salida temprana debido al calor. La salida es a las 12:30 p. m.
