Tomorrow’s the day, Denison Montessori community! We are thrilled to welcome our kindergarten through 6th grade students back to school on Monday, August 22nd. We look forward to having our ECE3 and ECE4 students join our community very soon. Please be sure to give yourself time to park and get your students to the main entrance if they want breakfast or the black top if they want to play before school starts. The main entrance will open at 8:45 for breakfast and staff will begin supervising the playground at 8:45. We will see most of you tomorrow morning!

Announcements

If you have NOT completed registration paperwork on Parent Portal or in person, your child will NOT be able to attend school on Monday, August 22. If you still need to register your child, please call the main office at 720-424-8080 to schedule an appointment so your child can attend school.
Please do not park on the south end of Yates from 8:45-9:10 and 3:45-4:15 to leave space for our buses to pull to the curb. The staff parking lot will also be closed at arrival and dismissal. If you have accessibility issues and need assistance with parking, please contact the main office.
After the first day of school, August 22, Ms. Natalie will be off campus for the remainder of the first week of school while she takes her youngest child, Lulu, to college on the east coast. Denison’s previous interim principal, Elza Guajardo, will be on campus August 23rd - 26th, to support the start of the school year. Ms. Natalie will be back at school Monday, August 29th.
Denison Montessori would like to welcome several new staff members and a few who are new to their role at Denison this year. Ms. Kat Valentin is joining our Upper Elementary team, Mr. Michael Cordova has moved into a Lower Elementary classroom, Ms. Casey Callan and Ms. Tori Cadle will be supporting our students who receive English Language Development support, and Ms. Bailey Fern will start the year in Ms. Patricia’s classroom as she recovers from a non-COVID health issue. We also welcome Ms. Lucy Gleason, Ms. Jenna Deforke, and Ms. Julia Arenas, and Ms. Kendra Doszak to Denison in paraprofessional roles.
If you are interested in joining Denison’s Collaborative School Committee, we are looking for parent and community members for the upcoming school year. The Collaborative School Committee (CSC) brings together families, staff and community members to create and implement a plan to promote high achievement within a school. This committee meets on a regular basis throughout the school year and is an opportunity for key stakeholders to have a voice in their school. During the late summer, Denver can occasionally experience extreme heat. 55 schools within DPS have partial or no air conditioning and may experience increased temperatures within the building. As we make every effort to ensure that our school stays open and that our students and educators feel comfortable, our number one priority is the safety and well-being of them all. If the temperature within our facility rises to a degree that we feel is unsafe to host classes, there is a possibility that our school may have an early-release Heat Day. In the event that we do need to declare an early-release Heat Day, we will make the decision by 5 p.m. the day prior to the early release. An early-release Heat Day notice will immediately be posted on our school’s website and the DPS website. An email and automated robo-call will be sent out to alert our families of the change in schedule for the following day.
Bus stop information is located in Parent Portal. You can use this link to find instructions on how to find bus stop locations and pick up/drop off times. If the Portal states “walker” that means the student is not eligible for transportation.
