Dear KCAA families:

It is our priority to keep you informed of incidents related to student safety. This morning at breakfast, one of our students was found in possession of a knife. Many other students in the cafeteria saw the knife. Staff members became aware of it and it was quickly secured. No one was harmed by the student and all students were safe.

Please know that we take student safety very seriously, and our discipline policy will guide whether discipline, restorative practices, and/or other appropriate actions will be implemented. Due to student privacy, we are unable to share any information about the student or their consequences at this time.

As a reminder to all students, it is NEVER ok to bring weapons of any kind – real or toy – to school. Parents, please take this opportunity to review safety messages with your students and encourage them to always report anything that doesn’t seem right. Please check your student’s backpack and personal belongings regularly to help prevent them from bringing dangerous objects to school.

As always, feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Chuck Puga
