Please read this newsletter that contains important information and updates.

NOTICE:

Please note that if you are calling for your child's early release, students will not be pulled out of class via a phone call. Parents will need to come to the main office with a valid ID before students will be called down and released. There will be no exceptions so please plan your time accordingly. Also there will be no early release after 3:00pm as it is extremely disruptive to the end of day procedures. Thank You!

¡Gracias!

Please note: the administration team is always busy and that makes it difficult for drop in visits, we request that you make an appointment in advance. Making an appointment in advance gives you their undivided attention, unless it’s an emergency, let the main office know so that they can check if anyone is available.

To schedule a meeting with the admin call the main office or email them directly. Thank you for understanding.

Dear families,

As we prepare for 2024, we wanted to remind students and families of the expectations for dress at KCAA. This is specific from the KCAA Parent Handbook. Clothing must be appropriate at all times and not disrupt the learning environment. Our biggest disruptions are inappropriate hoodies and t-shirts, sagging and students using underwear as outerwear. We ask that you support us in setting high expectations for our  students.

DRESS CODE:

In art, as in the rest of life, appearances count, and first impressions do matter. Students are reminded that a part of professional training is learning to present oneself well. The following rules apply to the daily dress of students:

  • For safety and health reasons, everyone is required to wear footwear and appropriate clothing while on school grounds.

Students wearing clothing that “makes a statement” are expected to respect the rights and beliefs of our diverse school community.

  • Clothing that is disruptive to the educational climate is not appropriate and students will be asked to change. Parents may be asked to deliver appropriate clothes to the school before the student will be able to return to classes. A second violation may result in disciplinary consequences. As outlined in the board policy, disruptive clothing includes but is not limited to:

- Clothing exhibiting obscene wording or graphics or promoting illegal activities

- Gang identifying clothing/styles (bandanas, and emblems, etc.).

         - Knowing that fashion changes quickly, keep in mind this is not an exhaustive list, but highlights the most common wardrobe issues that present themselves as disruptions

  • No Heels/ shoes with wheels are allowed at KCAA.

Winter Dress Code:

Please make sure your student has appropriate attire to go outside during recess. Students are expected to come prepared to be outside during the cold months of October-April. Students should bring appropriate outdoor clothing. KCAA students will have recess outside and will not be allowed in the building outside of school hours. All students will go outside for recess unless it is below 30 degrees and/or actively precipitating.

Parents may be contacted to pick up students for ALL reported violations.

KCAA community, take some time to read the letter attached from DPS which contains updates about the principal selection process for our next school year.
