What's Going on at KCAA

What's Goin' On!
Hello KCAA Community,
Please find below a list of items that are in their beginning phases. We are investigating some new things for KCAA and will put out some surveys as well as needs assessments to gather information. We will also survey our staff to gauge interest in their involvement as well. While we would love to have everything NOW, that is not how it works unfortunately. Please be patient as we always have to take into account the financial aspect as well as the availability of staff to run potential programming. Keep in mind that many are busy before and after school with their own kids and families. There are a whole bunch of variables in play and all of them are not in our scope of control. Please reach out with questions.
Please see below for the list.
1. NHS and NJHS - I am in conversation with a staff member to start this at KCAA
2. After School Programming - We will be sending out a needs assessment to our community as well as one to our staff to gauge interest, need and staff availability.
3. Collaboration with DSA (Denver School of the Arts) - we do not know yet what that may look like. I am in preliminary conversations with them.
4. CTE (Career Tech Ed) - I am in conversation with Elina Martinez from CTE regarding new possibilities for KCAA. Our next meeting is September 27th.
5. Our new CSC will meet the last Thursday of the Month. This month we are meeting on Thursday, September 27th at KCAA. All CSC groups must be trained by the district. We did hear back from the district and they will be able to accommodate us on the 27th with required training.
6. Our PTO meets at Doghouse on the third Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome to join in and it does not cost to be a member. The address is 3100 S. Sheridan Blvd, Denver 80227
7. Denver School Board Vice President, Auon'tai Anderson, will be visiting Kunsmiller Creative Arts Academy on September 29 from 1:20 - 1:50.
8. WE HAVE an existing afterschool program partnership with Metro State University.
Programming starts on September 18th and runs Monday through Thursday from
3:30 pm - 6:30 pm. This is for Middle and High School students ONLY. It is held in room 218. Please see attached flyer.
