Barney Ford Elementary

Weekly Update: May 22, 2025

05/22/25, 5:01 PM

Dear Families,

Our students just completed their end-of-year reading fluency test, and we are thrilled with the results! An incredible 70.6% of K-3 students are reading on grade level! 158 students (58%) made above-average or well-above average growth this year! Overall, 80% of our students made a year or more of growth.

This data shows the hard work our students put into their learning and is a testament to our dedicated staff. We are proud of our Barney Ford Staff and Students!

Parking Lot Safety

Today we almost had an accident in the parking lot after a family drove through the exit in order to drop of their students. This is an unacceptable safety risk to our community.

Handicap placard

The parking lot is only available for staff members and families with handicap placards. Please do not enter the parking lot without a valid handicap placard. Help us keep all our staff and families safe by following the directions of the staff on duty.

Tonight, May 22: Black Family Engagement Event

Tonight is our final Black Family Engagement event. We will meet on Google Meet from 5:30-6:30. We will celebrate highlights from the year and discuss ways we can serve our families better next year. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Tomorrow: May 23: Field Day

Field Day is one of our favorite days of the year! Join us next Friday for the fun! Be sure your child is prepared to be outside with a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, an extra pair of clothes, and a smile! Sneakers or water shoes are required. Crocs are not allowed at Field Day for safety reasons. All visitors MUST check in at the main office before heading to the field. Please plan to arrive early to allow enough time for the check-in process.

Here’s the schedule:

  • 9:20-11:30 (ECE-2nd grade)
  • 12:30-2:30 (3rd-5th grade)

Monday, May 26: No School

Monday is Memorial Day, and there is no school or Discovery Link. Enjoy the long weekend and we will see you back at school on Tuesday.

Friday, May 30: Kindergarten Continuation

Next Friday, we are celebrating our Kindergartners moving on to first grade. The continuation ceremonies will be in the gym, followed by refreshments in the library. Please refer to the invitation from the teachers for all the details.
