Weekly Update: April 17, 2025

04/17/25, 5:31 PM

Dear Families,

Happy Easter to all our families celebrating on Sunday

Hurray, most students in grades 3-5 finished CMAS testing today!

We do have over 90 makeup tests to complete with students who were absent. Next week we will continue testing students who missed the testing sessions. Thank you for your support during the testing window. We know that the intensity of the tests and the changes in the daily schedule can be stressful for the students. We are excited to get back to our normal routines next week.

No School Tomorrow, Friday, April 18

Tomorrow, April 18, is a Teacher Planning Day. There is no school for students that day. Discovery Link will be open.

Dental Hygiene Reminders

We just completed our annual dental and hearing screening. Of approximately 480+ students screened, 146 students had decay and what appeared to be decay, darker staining or another issue. Many of these cases were significant and included all areas of the mouth, and several students expressed having pain at times.

Cavities are the number one chronic disease in school-aged children, and contribute to absenteeism, concentration, and behavior issues. Please help your child by:

  1. Avoiding sugary drinks.
  2. Visit the dentist's office at least 2 times per year.
  3. Brush after meals and snacks.
  4. Ask Nurse Britney about DPS programs to help with dental health.
  5. Dental Hygiene

Attendance Update

Last week’s attendance rate was one of our highest at 92.4%. At 97.5%, third grade had close to perfect attendance! Thank you for sending your children to school every day when they are healthy.
