Weekly Update: March 13, 2025
03/13/25, 2:17 PM
Dear Families,
As we approach spring break, we notice more students not following the uniform dress code. Please send your students to school in their uniforms each day. This includes black or white shoes and socks. Hoodies are not permitted in the classroom, even under a uniform shirt. You can purchase additional uniform shirts and sweatshirts in the office.
Please be careful when driving through the school zone during arrival and dismissal. Last week, there was an accident caused by a driver doing a u-turn in the school zone. U-turns are very dangerous when so many families and cars are in the area. Also, please respect the decisions of the staff on duty outside. Arguing with staff members about entering the parking lot is not safe or civil behavior at our school.
Today at 5:30: Black Family Virtual Meeting
Our next Black Family Evenit is tonight from 5:30-6:30. During this online meeting Ms. Annalisa, our social worker, will lead a discussion about mental health. We will also celebrate the students who made the second-semester Dean’s List. All families are welcome to attend. Join us at this link.
Friday, March 21: Early Release Day and Dollar Dress Down Day
Next Friday, students will be dismissed at 1:00. This gives teachers extra time to plan before leaving for spring break. Discovery Link will be open until 5:00 if you need afternoon coverage for your child. It will also be Dollar Dress Down Day.
Spring Break
We hope you are looking forward to Spring Break. It begins on Monday, March 24, and students return to school on Tuesday, April 1st. Please plan your travels when we are out of school. Extending the break affects your child’s learning and social development. We will be taking CMAS tests after the break and want to make sure students are fully prepared.
New Job Opening: Barney Ford Custodian
Barney Ford has a full-time custodian position open. Apply here if you are interested in joining our team. You can also talk to Chris Martinez, our facilities manager, about the role.
CMAS Testing Schedule
Students in grades 3-5 will take the state CMAS tests from April 8th to 25th. Please do not plan any appointments or vacations during this testing window. These important tests show if a student is performing at grade level, if they are on track for the next grade, and how their results compare to their peers at school and across the district and state.
