Dear Families,

October 16: Celebrity Crossing Guard on Walk/Roll to School Day!
National Walk/Roll to School Day is Wednesday, October 16th. On this day, we will have a special celebrity guest assisting our crossing guard. Please help us celebrate by traveling to school using “active transportation.”
We are excited to announce that our celebrity crossing guard will be Chaplain Joseph Dang! Chaplain Dang is a community leader, Montebello neighbor, and a Denver Police Department Chaplain.
Walk, ride your bike, use your wheelchair, scooter, skateboard, or ride RTD on October 16th to receive a raffle ticket to win an exclusive lunch with the principal. If you need to drive to school, please park one or more blocks away from the school and come through the main crosswalk to receive your raffle ticket. Our goal is to have everyone use human-powered transportation on this day!
More than 35 DPS schools are participating in this event. Together we can create a healthy community!

Interim Testing: October 14-25
After fall break, our third through fifth graders will take the first round of interim assessments. These assessments cover math, literacy, social studies, and science. The results of these assessments help us understand what our students are mastering and what they need more support with before the end of the school year. Please be sure your child is at school on time every day during the testing period. Help them get enough sleep and come reading to rock the tests.
Attendance Update
Last week our attendance rate was 91%. This is just two points away from our goal of 93%. Third grade had the highest attendance for the third week in a row at 96.3% Keep it up!
