Dear Families,

We just completed the first week of CMAS testing in grades 3-5. The students practiced the Barney Ford Habits of Focus and Determination on the three math tests. CMAS testing continues next week with literacy tests on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please remember to:

Encourage good sleep habits the night before the test.
Come to school on time each day.
Support your child with positive messaging and an emphasis on strong effort.

We want all students to feel pride and a sense of accomplishment after completing the tests.

Tomorrow: Class Photos

We are taking class photos tomorrow, April 12th. Students do not need to be in uniform. They can dress up for the photos on this special day.

No School on Friday, April 19

There is no school for students next Friday, April 19. Teachers will be using this day to plan and prepare for the rest of the school year. Discovery Link is offering a day camp on the 19th. Contact LJ (leonard_ollison@dpsk12.net) to register for the camp.

We have a winner!

Ms. Schwartz, our art teacher, supported the 5th graders in competing in a city-wide poster contest to celebrate Arbor Day. Our very own Jade Brown received second place! The posters of the five Denver winners and the other school winners from across Colorado will be displayed at the Freyer-Newman Center at Denver Botanic Gardens from April 16th through May 4th. Congratulations, Jade!

Adult English Classes

Adult English Classes at Barney Ford started this week with over 17 participants! It’s not too late to join.

8 weeks - April 8 - May 30, 2024
Beginner-level conversation class
8-10 am - Monday and Wednesday
Cost = $50 payable by cash or credit card

Attendance Update

Our attendance rate last week was 89%. 2nd grade had the best attendance at 92.5%. Our goal is 95% each week. Please be an attendance hero by showing up every day on time for learning.
