Weekly Update: February 29, 2024

02/29/24, 5:31 PM

Dear Families,

Happy Leap Day! We are wrapping up February and looking forward to March. Please join us for First Friday Coffee and Conversation tomorrow morning. Our school psychologist, Lindsey Kline will share information about bully and suicide prevention. We’ll meet in the library from 8:00-8:45.

Food at School

Breakfast is served daily from 7:45-8:00 a.m.  Late arrivals may eat breakfast in the cafe from 8:00-8:05 a.m.  Instruction starts promptly at 8:00 a.m. and all students should be done with breakfast ready to learn by 8:00 a.m.  Barney Ford serves a snack several days a week.  Students are not permitted to bring snacks from home for snack time as the school is required to serve fruits and vegetables.  If your child has a fruit or veggie allergy, please notify the front office. Lunch is free to all students.  Students may bring a healthy lunch from home or eat the school-provided lunch.  Students are not permitted to bring candy, soda or large bags of chips to eat during lunch nor are they permitted to share food items throughout the day.  Staff are unable to provide snacks to students other than the school-provided snacks, so please encourage your child to arrive on time and eat the school-provided meals to avoid feeling hungry throughout the day.

Home Visits

Spring Parent Teacher Home Visit (PTHV) Week is coming up March 4-10! PTHVs are a great way to build relationships and trust between educators, students and families. Please reach out to your teacher if you’d like to arrange a visit. Visits can be at your house, a park, or other common space. It’s a great way for families and teachers to get to know each other better.
