Barney Ford Elementary

Weekly Update: January 18, 2024

01/18/24, 4:32 PM

Dear Families,

We hope you were able to stay warm and healthy during the polar vortex. Please send warm layers to school with your child so they can enjoy the outdoor recess activities even when it gets cold and windy. We try to get outside as much as possible when the temperature is above 20-degrees.

Tonight: STEM Family Night

Tonight is our Family Fun STEM Night! Join us from 5:30-7:00 for a pizza dinner, live animal demonstrations, and math games! As students must be accompanied by an adult family member. As for all of our Family Fun Nights, older siblings cannot attend, just current Barney Ford students and younger.

Safe Arrival and Dismissal Reminders

At Barney Ford, we aim to maintain a safe and civil environment both inside the classroom and outside. Unfortunately, there have been a few heated exchanges during arrival and dismissal. Please follow all the traffic and parking rules and listen to the directives of the crossguards. We need to work together to keep ALL families and staff safe, especially during the busy commute.

 Attendance Update

Attendance was up 5% last week. The average attendance rate for the week was 87.3%. This is still short of our goal of 95%. Please help us reach our attendance goal by sending your students to school every day that they are healthy. 2nd grade had the best attendance at 91.5%.
