Weekly Family Letter, September 7

Dear Families,

At Barney Ford, we strive to help each student grow academically and social-emotionally every single day. In order to support your children better we are gathering reading, writing, and math information on a regular basis. This week, students took the i-Station test which provides data about literacy skills. Students also wrote a passage about a favorite pet in order for us to better understand their strengths with writing. We will be using this information to plan the best instruction possible for your child.

The sign-up for FREE afterschool enrichment activities including basketball, soccer, violin, choir, and book clubs is open now through Friday, Sept 7th.

Attendance Update

Our school attendance goal is 95% every day. We need your support to meet this goal. Last week our attendance rate was 92%. Our 2nd graders had the best attendance at 96.1%.

Attendance Data

We love to celebrate great attendance at Barney Ford. Each week students with perfect attendance get a special treat. Each month, the class with the best attendance gets a party and a free dress-down day. Students with perfect attendance for a month get a certificate and a lucky family gets a free pizza dinner. At the end of each semester, students with perfect attendance will also get to enjoy a party!

Did you know that tardies add up to absences in DPS? It is very important to be on time for school each day so your child gets the best education possible.

- Picture Day! All students must wear school uniforms for this picture day.
- Final day to RSVP for the Dances of Mexico Family Night.
