Alburnett High School

8 more volunteers needed- please read

08/28/23, 11:03 AM

Hello,

The Alburnett Post Prom is in need of 8 more volunteers to fulfill our commitment to work the Iowa Concessions football game this Saturday, September 2.

Details on working the game are below.

Each spot is a guaranteed to be paid a minimum of $125 but is based on the amount of our sales our stand does, so it is typically higher.

If you have a group or organization that you would like to raise money towards this is a great opportunity.

Any high school student or member of the community is welcome to work, you do not need to be a junior or senior.

We will be drawing for gift cards for the students who work.

Things you need to know:

What time do you need to be at the stadium?

  • All workers are to be at the stadium in our stand 3 hours before game time
  • Pass Gate closes 1-½ hours before game time
  • Game times: TV dictates start times and the dates are currently posted along with some game times:

September 2nd vs. Utah State @ 11:00 AM

September 16th vs. Western Michigan @ 2:30 PM

September 30th vs. Michigan St. - Stand is being run by another group for this game.

October 7th vs. Purdue @ TBA

October 21st vs. Minnesota @ TBA

November 11th vs. Rutgers @ TBA

November 18th vs. Illinois @ TBA

Will carpooling be available?

  • Yes, anyone who is interested in carpooling can make arrangements with others who have signed up. It is my preference to give the free parking passes to those who are carpooling. We will always do our best to find a ride for someone willing to work. Again, we recommend the adults do the driving on game days.

Where to park at the stadium?

  • Unfortunately, there are no assigned parking spots; everyone is on their own for parking and responsible to pay if needed.
  • Last year we were issued 4 parking passes per game and those were just drawn out of a hat. We suggest carpooling as much as possible.
  • There is a map of available parking lots on the University of Iowa website: http://www.footballgameday.com/

Where do you go when you get to the stadium?

  • All workers are required to come in the WORKER PASS GATE which is located at SW corner of Kinnick, between gates A and B. YOU MUST HAVE A PHOTO ID TO ENTER, AND NEED TO BE 16 OR OLDER TO WORK. Driver’s license or school ID is accepted.
  • Each Wednesday prior to game day, we will send a list of workers for that week to Aramark. This is used to track who is coming into the Pass Gate.
  • We are Stand #3 again this year. Basically we stand with our back to the Stead Family Children’s Hospital. It is a large concession needing 26 workers.

What do I wear?

  • Every worker must wear black pants. Shorts are only permitted during September games, the shorts need to be no more than 5 inches above the knee. This can include black sweatpants, jeans or capris. You CANNOT wear sandals, high heels, moccasins or any open-toed shoes.
  • Aramark provides black polo shirts and hats to wear each week. You will get your uniform when you arrive at the stand. So be prepared to change at the stand or there is a bathroom nearby. You are welcome to wear your own hat, it just has to be black and can have Hawkeye logos if you want.
  • NO Jewelry or watches. This includes wedding rings unless they are plain bands.

May I watch the game?

  • NO, Aramark does not allow workers to watch the games.
  • You will be very busy while working and will not have time to watch the game.

Will you have time to eat while working?

  • Each worker will get a choice of a free hot dog(2), pretzel or chips w/ cheese and a refillable drink cup. There is also bottled water in the big fridge for workers.
  • There will be a sheet to sign your name and your food choice.
  • Once the gates are open, workers are not allowed to eat, drink or smoke in front of the public.
