04/13/22, 4:33 PM

Dear DSST Middle School @ Noel Students and Families,

I hope today finds you well! I am writing with some exciting updates regarding the leadership of DSST Middle School @ Noel for the 2022-23 school year.

I am very grateful for your partnership and feedback as we’ve worked together to identify and select the next School Director to lead DSST Middle School @ Noel. Thanks to the input of more than 50 students, parents, and staff members, we are excited to announce that Ms. Briana Mesa will assume the role of School Director beginning in the 2022-23 school year. Given Ms. Mesa’s deep DSST experience, coupled with her expertise in leading teams to extraordinary results in both instruction and school culture, I am confident that Ms. Mea is the right leader to further DSST Middle School @ Noel’s reputation for excellence while deepening DSST’s partnership with the students and families of the far northeast. As it turns out, Ms. Mesa is equally excited about the opportunity ahead - please see a special video message from her here. And, please look for an additional email on Friday, which will detail a handful of upcoming opportunities for you to meet and get to know Ms. Mesa better!

In the meantime, the feedback of students, staff and families was critical to me in making this decision, and I am grateful for all of you who participated in this process. Here’s just some of what we heard from the DSST Middle School @ Noel community through the interview process:

“She comes to DSST knowing the culture of the school…. Welcome aboard! ” – DSST MS @ Noel parent

“Briana has a ton of experience not only working in instruction but also working in culture. She is also a fantastic listener and has so many thought-out ideas ready to go.” – DSST MS @ Noel staff member

“I appreciate Briana Mesa's direct vision for Noel. Her vision is clear and concise on how she wants to run a school. Also, I admire her passion for coaching teachers and staff, and how she wants to make coaching priority for next year. I like how she is relationship-focused when it comes to staff and peers. I do firmly believe the things that were not a priority this year, will be a priority next year through Mesa's leadership.” – DSST MS @ Noel staff member

Lastly, I want to celebrate and express my deep gratitude for Ms. Raybon’s unwavering commitment to the DSST Middle School @ Noel community during her time as the Interim School Director. I will forever be grateful to Ms. Raybon for her willingness to step up and lead the DSST MS @ Noel community this year, as well as for her many years of leadership as a founding member of the DSST MS @ Noel team.

Again, thank you for your continued partnership and please join me in welcoming Ms. Mesa to the role of School Director. Go Bulldogs!

With gratitude,

Bill Kurtz
