1) Friday, April 19th NO SCHOOL:

There is no school on 4/19 (TOMORROW) for students as it is a teacher work day. See you all on 4/22!!!

2) 24-25 Early Registration: Action Required!

Early Bird Window will be open May 6 - May 24, 2024. Register online this spring and avoid paper forms and save time at school during the fall. To register online, sign in to Parent Portal, click on “See All Apps”, then click on “Online Registration” to verify or update your student’s information. Online registration can only be completed by the parent/guardian listed in the primary household of the student record.

Need a Parent Portal Account?

Navigate to the Parent Portal and click on “Create a Parent account” below the "Login to Parent or Student Portal" button. Fill out the form on the next screen.  You will need the ID number of one of your students in order to create a Parent Portal account. If you do not know your student’s ID, go to Student ID Retrieval or contact your student’s current DPS school.

      1. Once the form is completed, click “Submit”. You will be prompted to select your username and password; click “Submit”.

      2. An activation email will be sent to the email used to create your account. Please click the link in the email in order to activate your account. Once completed, you will receive another email informing you that your account is now active (this may take up to 15 minutes).

3) A Message From the Teller Pantry

Hours - April 18th & 19th → There is no school this Friday, April 19th and the pantry will be closed. We are going to open early tomorrow, Thursday, April 18th. Please visit anytime between 1:30pm-4:30pm! If you cannot visit and would like items to be sent home with your child given the 3-day weekend, please complete this form before 1:30pm.

Summer hours→ We hope to continue providing an open pantry during the summer break! We are working out details and want to do our best to meet your needs. Please let us know what works for you by completing this anonymous 3-question summer hours survey. For anyone interested in volunteering over the summer, we will send a separate communication on that once we have results of this survey. Please keep an eye out!

THANK YOU→ Congress Park Market will be making a donation of $651 as a result of their Grocery Give Back Grand Opening Party! Thank you to all for making their event such a success!! 4) PTA Community Event- Next Wednesday!

Teller’s very own PTA will be leading a community event on Wednesday,  April 24th,2024! We are thrilled to have you all join in person OR VIRTUALLY!

Like always, babysitting and free pizza will be offered! Please complete this REQUIRED Google Form if you plan on attending.

5) Shakespeare!

Please join us for an evening of Shakespeare on April 25th starting at 5:00 PM. Our 4th grade has been working since January to learn 12 scenes from the plays Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Come support their hard work as they do a community performance before representing Teller at the 2024 Shakespeare Festival the following day, April 26th. 

Below are the details for this performance on April 25th 

    1. 4:30 - 4th graders arrive in their costumes through door 2 and report to the gym. The parents will report to the auditorium.
    2. 5:00 - Performance (this should run between 1 to 1 and a half hours depending on their transitions)
    3. Families need to stay for the entire performance to give all our 4th graders equal support and not to disrupt the flow of the performance.
    4. No food or beverage is allowed in the auditorium during the performance.
    5. After the show, students need to be picked up from the Gym.

Shakespeare Festival on April 26th

Please join us at the 2024 DPS Shakespeare festival at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Our students will present their 12 scenes at the Old Globe Theater. Please see the map and schedule below. Please contact Jennifer Bartos if you have any questions at jbartos@dpsk12.net

 

6) Teller Art & Music Walk is NEXT SATURDAY+ Teller DEN Night!

Art Walk: Student art will be exhibited on Colfax and Steele streets beginning at noon. Student band, violin and choir performances will take place outdoors 1-4pm at 1521 Steele St.

BAKED GOODS AND VOLUNTEER HERE!

DEN NIGHT: The final DEN Night of the year will be on April 27th. Your child will be fed dinner and enjoy a whole array of activities including arts & crafts, movies (age appropriate), and reading stories before settling down to spend the night in the school.

Make sure to register on the Membership Toolkit  here. The pricing will be $75 per child (there are sibling discounts for 2nd, 3rd, 4th children)! Registration closes on 4/23!

8) Nominate Your Favorite Teacher to Throw the First Pitch at a Colorado Rockies Game!

As Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10) draws near, we are thrilled to share an exciting opportunity to celebrate and honor the outstanding educators of DPS. Nominate a deserving teacher to throw the first pitch at the May 10 Colorado Rockies game against the Texas Rangers. The selected teacher will also receive five free game tickets to enjoy with friends and family!

Educators from any DPS school serving grades K-12 may be considered for nomination. Nominations can be submitted by students, colleagues, friends, family members or even yourself! Submit your nomination by Friday, April 26.

9) Empowering Black Families - Strategies for Navigating the Colorado Education System

In collaboration with Black Parent Network, FACE University is hosting a 4 part virtual series- Navigating the School District. Our goal?  To empower Black families with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of the Colorado education system effectively. All DPS families & staff are welcome to attend. We will be giving away tickets to Denver Children's Museum, History Colorado, and Museum of Nature and Science!!

10) World Children’s Day at History Colorado Museum

El día del niño, World Children's Day, is on Sunday, April 28 this year. The event is completely free, and is celebrated at History Colorado Museum, the Denver Art Museum, Clyfford Still Museum and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. 

Please consider attending one of the events and learning more about Latin American culture as it pertains to childhood.

12) RIDWELL x TELLER ELEMENTARY-UPDATES!

Teller is keeping Plastic Film from landfills with Ridwell this spring! As part of this limited-time drive, you can bring these types of Plastic Film to school on Tuesday, April 30th and Ridwell will make sure they stay out of landfills and are turned into new decking materials instead!  Start collecting these items at home now.

You can also help Teller recycle our school’s Plastic Film for the entire ‘24/’25 school year! Be sure to use get.ridwell.com/Teller to join Ridwell with an at-home membership by May 31st, 2024. If we sign up 10 or more new members by this date, we will be awarded monthly Plastic Film pickups for our school next year!

13) DISCOVERY LINK 24/25 REGISTRATION 

Discovery Link Registration for the 2024-2025 School Year opens soon! 

To manage server load, registration will open in waves. Teller will have their registration date on Thursday, May 2 at 6:00 am. Please review the important information below:

Registration Fee:

    • $50 for one child
    • $75 for a family

Programming:

    • All schools provide after-school (PM) programming from bell time until 6:00pm
    • Many sites, but not all also offer before-school (AM), Camp, Early Release & ECE programs

2024-2025 PRICING:

    • PM Discovery Link- $18.00
    • Early Release Days-$30.00
    • Camp Days-$55.00

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE & DISCOUNTS:

    • Sibling Discount: Discovery Link offers a 10% discount for siblings. The discount is applied to the second child in a family and each additional child thereafter.

    • Free & Reduced Lunch:Financial Assistance is available for those families who qualify for DPS’s Free and Reduced Lunch program. The discount is 30% off the regular tuition rate. This discount does not apply to additional fees including, but not limited to: registration, field trips, late pick-up, or unscheduled attendance. Families who wish to utilize this discount must email a copy of their authorization letter to diiscovery_link@dpsk12.org . The discount will be applied once the authorization letter is received. A new authorization letter is required every school year.

    • CCAP: Families who qualify for the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) are encouraged to apply.

14) US Department of Education Family Engagement Learning Series Webinars

The Department recently released the Family Engagement Learning Series briefs! These briefs summarize a six-part webinar series of conversations designed to Raise the Bar for family engagement practices between school and home. The learning series produced by the U.S. Department of Education in partnership with Carnegie Corporation of New York and Overdeck Family Foundation, provided an overview of evidence, highlighted bright spots in the field, and shared resources and evidence-based strategies to support student success with education leaders and practitioners. We invite you to learn about how family engagement supports each of the areas of education highlighted in the learning series.
