What an amazing week seeing our Teller Tigers dress up in wacky wearables, stripes, bright colors, and in sports wear! There was SO much amazing participation from every single grade, so Teller!  Thank you to all of the families who came out for Teller's BINGO Night! It was so much fun to see everyone there and the turnout was AMAZING!!!

1. Register for BOOSTERTHON!

Our Teller Fun Run fundraiser is kicking off soon! NOW IS THE TIME TO REGISTER!!!! If 60% of families register before 2/26 all Teller students will receive a gift!

2. CMAS Testing Schedule

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be taking The Colorado Measures of Academic Success, or CMAS beginning in April. CMAS is the state summative assessment for language arts, math, science and social studies. CMAS is aligned to the state’s rigorous academic standards and designed to gauge how well students are mastering the standards and are prepared for their next grade. Our students will be testing during the following weeks: 

        • April 9-11th: 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Language Arts
        • April 16th-18th: 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Math
        • April  23rd-25th: 5th Grade Science
        • April 29th - May 3rd: Makeup Week

3. Lost and Found: FINAL REMINDER!

There are already 2 full racks of clothes in our Lost and Found, please take a moment at drop off or pick up to check the lost and found. We will be donating any items that are unclaimed after February 9th, 2024. WHICH IS TOMORROW! Stop by and claim the clothing items tomorrow!

4. Spring CogAT Sign Ups (due by February 23rd if interested)

Attention 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families: If you are interested in having your child take the CogAT assessment this spring, please complete the nomination form. 

Applications can be found here and applications for testing are due by Friday, February 23rd. 

Students can only take one cognitive assessment per calendar year, so if your child was already given the NNAT, NGAT, or the CogAT this year (fall 2023), they cannot be assessed again this spring.

5. A Message from the Teller Pantry

NOTICE OF UPCOMING PANTRY CLOSURE - With next week's long weekend, the Pantry will be closed Friday, 2/16 and Monday, 2/19. Please plan ahead and come stock up prior to the 16th. Hours that the Pantry will be open can be found HERE.

As always, all current Teller families and staff are welcome and everything is free. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions please use this  contact@tellerpantry.org address to contact us.

6. 3rd Grade Performance - 2/22 

Please come and join us on February 22nd to see all of the 3rd graders celebrate and honor Black History Month. All 3rd grade students will perform a variety of songs, stories, dances, poems!

Logistics: 

      • 3rd grade students must arrive at Door 2 (located by the Auditorium) by no later that 4:45pm
      • Students will be directed to the gym to check in with their classroom teachers and families will be directed to the auditorium to find seating
      • Please note, no food or drinks are allowed in the auditorium and all phones must be silent during the performance to respect all of the work the students are doing!
      • There will be select seats that are reserved for our Totally Teller Tiger Treat winner, please respect those spots
      • Discovery Link Students will be picked up by a Teller staff member from the cafeteria and checked into the gym

After the performance, families will be asked to check out their students from their classroom teachers in the gym.           

7. Support Team Teller’s Brandi Josytewa!

ECE’s Brandi J will be having a hysterectomy on February 22nd. She will spend the night in the hospital and hope to be home the next day. 

She will be out of work for 6 weeks as she heals. 

If you are interested in helping her and her family out as she recovers, please sign up for the meal train. Thank you to everyone who contributes to helping ease her and her family's lives.

8. Upcoming at FACE University!

Thursday, Feb. 8, 5-6 p.m.: Social-Emotional Learning 101 - Join us to learn what SEL is, how it is used in schools and why it is important. RSVP here.

Tuesday, March 5, 5-6 p.m.: Social-Emotional Learning At Home - Learn how to bring SEL skills to life in your home for yourself, your child and your family. RSVP here.

Tuesday, March 12th, 5-6 p.m: Social Media Safety - Join us for a detailed overview of social media safety, discussion, and Q&A as we launch our Social Media Training module for families! RSVP HERE

9. Teller’s Violin Teacher!

If you are interested in having your student learn or fine tune their violin skills, checkout Teller’s own violin teacher’s website

She has supported Teller students in learning violin for years and is an expert at her craft!

10. School Choice

SchoolChoice Round 1 for the 2024-25 school year CLOSES 4 p.m. Feb. 12, 2024.

Families can apply here. Families with existing Parent Portal accounts can log in using their username and password and families who do not have Parent Portal accounts will set up a new account here

The enrollment lottery for ECE-4 families will return to be a part of the DPS SchoolChoice process for our upcoming enrollment cycle starting Jan. 11, 2024. ECE-3 and ECE-4 families will first need to participate in DPS SchoolChoice to match with their preferred DPS school for the 2024-25 school year, then the UPK application will need to be completed by families after Round 1. 

11. Free After School Meals from Tasty Food!

Denver invites youth, ages 5 - 18, to enjoy FREE breakfast, lunch, supper and/or a nutritious snack. Tasty Food meals include up to five food groups that are low in fat and prepared fresh. No ID or registration required, just show up and eat. Bring some friends for some fun!

12. Refugees, migrants and access to services

Colorado has recently welcomed many newcomers arriving from the Southwest border. New arrivals are often in need of many of the programs and services offered by county Human Service offices. Though these migrants may be fleeing similar circumstances as refugees, there are some crucial terminology and immigration status differences to understand, as human service departments assess individuals’ eligibility for benefits and services.

Check out this document created by the Colorado Office of Economic Security that lists out different resources for our Migrant and Refugee families.

13. Department of Housing Stability: Temporary Rental & Utility Assistance

The Temporary Rental and Utility Assistance (TRUA) Program assists eligible households with:

      • Rental Assistance – Up to 6 months of rental assistance may be provided to an eligible household within a 12-month period (calendar year). This may include rental arrears, the current month’s rent, and one future month’s rent.
      • Utility Assistance – This program provides utility assistance to Denver Water and/or Xcel Energy (electric, gas) for renters and homeowners. Utility assistance may be provided to eligible households one time per utility within a 12-month period (calendar year).
      • Relocation Assistance – This may include security deposit, first month’s rent, and application fees. Deposit and first month’s rent will count as one month each toward the 6-month maximum.

14. 6th Annual Denver Family Fest!

Saturday, February 24th from 12-6pm at the Colorado Convention Center

The event will include free activities, family-type vendors, learning about STEM careers, competitive robotics and more, including pictures with Clifford the big red dog!
