  1. Refugees, Migrants and Access to Services!

Colorado has recently welcomed many newcomers arriving from the Southwest border. New arrivals are often in need of many of the programs and services offered by county Human Service offices. Though these migrants may be fleeing similar circumstances as refugees, there are some crucial terminology and immigration status differences to understand, as human service departments assess individuals’ eligibility for benefits and services.

Check out this document created by the Colorado Office of Economic Security that lists out different resources for our Migrant and Refugee families.

Between Sept. 1 - Dec. 22, 2023, 94 outbreaks caused by norovirus were reported, with 15 in long-term care facilities, 42 in schools, and 34 in child care facilities. While norovirus incidence is highest between the months of November to April, the number of outbreaks so far this season is more than this same time frame in previous years.

Please remember to keep little ones home with fevers. Kids must be Fever free without medications for 24 hours prior to returning to school. It can also be a good idea to send them back with a mask if they still have lingering symptoms including coughing, sneezing, and runny noses. It can help stop the spread
