Hello Teller Community, 

We hope everyone is staying warm during this intensely chilly time! Here is this week's PRIDE Post! There is SO much important information included in this email about SchoolChoice, the next DEN Night, the 23/24 yearbook, PTA reminders, and more! 

Please take a few minutes to read the information below and reach out if you have any questions!

1. Intent to Return Google Form

As we prepare for the 2024-2025 school year, our goal is to have an accurate student count so we can plan accordingly. We have about 89% of the forms in! If you haven’t submitted yours, please do so asap!

Whether you are planning to return to Teller or not, we are asking each family to complete ONE Google form by Thursday, January 11th, 2024 at noon. 

2. School Choice

SchoolChoice Round 1 for the 2024-25 school year will open at 10 a.m. on Jan. 11 and close at 4 p.m. Feb. 12, 2024.

Families can apply here. Families with existing Parent Portal accounts can log in using their username and password and families who do not have Parent Portal accounts will set up a new account here

The enrollment lottery for ECE-4 families will return to be a part of the DPS SchoolChoice process for our upcoming enrollment cycle starting Jan. 11, 2024. ECE-3 and ECE-4 families will first need to participate in DPS SchoolChoice to match with their preferred DPS school for the 2024-25 school year, then the UPK application will need to be completed by families after Round 1. 

3. Girls on the Run 

Girls on the run is coming back to Teller! If you are interested in registering your student(s). Practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays in the spring.

Mark your calendar for these important dates*:

    • Registration Opens: Monday, February 5th at 9 AM
    • First Week of Practice: March 4th-8th 
    • Last Week of Practice: May 13th-17th
    • 5K: Dates are still being determined, but will be held on a weekend in May.

We are looking forward to a great season!

4. 2023/2024 School Yearbook

The last day to order your yearbook is February 29th. The Yearbook Fee is $40. Yearbooks can be purchased through My School Bucks under the yearbook tab. 

5. Parent’s Night Out: Let Ms. Gras watch your kids! 

Need a night out and support watching your student(s)? Ms. Gras is offering support in watching your kids, siblings welcome. Here is the link to signup.

6. Third Annual Black Excellence Celebration- Nominations Needed!

The Third Annual Black Excellence Celebration event is an opportunity to honor the excellence of our Black students within DPS. The Black Family Advisory Council (BFAC) is asking for DPS parents, team members and community members to submit nominations for Black students who display Black Excellence by Friday, Feb. 9. 

The nomination categories include Academics, Athletics and Leadership. Nominees will receive awards, prizes and celebrations of their excellence. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact BFAC on Facebook or Instagram, or email dps.BFAC@gmail.com.

7. A Message from Pantry Friends

As there will be no school in observance of the MLK holiday, the Pantry will be closed next Monday, 1/15. Please don't forget to check Pantry Hours to confirm the pantry is open before you plan to visit as our hours are subject to change based on volunteer availability.

Our matching donation drive is off to a great start! We are at 46% of our goal. If you would like to double the impact of your monetary donation, please donate now at Pantry matching donor campaign.

8. Join DPS for the MLK Marade on Monday, Jan. 15

DPS will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and our continued commitment to equity and inclusion by participating in the MLK 40th Annual Marade. Please join us Monday, Jan. 15 for a two-mile walk at the MLK statue in City Park at 9 a.m. Click here to sign up. The first 20 volunteers will receive a 40th Anniversary commemorative t-shirt!

Look for DPS signage when you arrive to help locate our team. And, feel free to bring your family and friends!

9. DEN Night-February 10th, 2024

Save the date for the next Teller DEN Night (flyer here)! Your child will be fed dinner and enjoy a whole array of activities including arts & crafts, movies (age appropriate), and reading stories before settling down to spend the night in the school. 

Registration opens TOMORROW! On Friday, January 12th and closes on February 2nd, 2024. 

Make sure to register ASAP as there are a limited number of spots available! You can register on the Membership Toolkit  here. The pricing will be $75 per child (there are sibling discounts for 2nd, 3rd, 4th children)!

10. Cold and Flu Season from the Teller Health Office

Covid continues to be a cause of concern, especially as we are in the midst of flu season. If you or someone in your household, that cannot isolate alone, tests positive, do not report to your worksite. Contact your manager to inform them that you need to isolate and to confirm next steps. Additionally, you are required to enter a leave of absence if you are out for four or more days for an "Employee Health Leave" in True Pay. Covid continues to be a cause of concern, especially as we are in the midst of flu season. Please use this link to the CDC for recommendations on FLU and COVID prevention.

11. A Message from the PTA

We hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break and are ready for the last half of school! We've loved seeing Teller full of students again and have a few updates for you.

Teller PTA collects milk caps to recycle.  If you have any waiting to be donated or aren't sure what to do with them, bring them to school; just inside to the right of the doors or the Capitol Heights Pharmacy, washed and rinsed free of any milk and we will turn them in for donations to the Teller PTA!

Looking for a way for your business to partner with Teller?  We have Corporate Sponsorships!  With over 550 students and their families within Teller's Campus, this is a fantastic way to support the school, and have our community support you!  Here is the link to the Corporate Sponsorship page via the PTA Community Toolkit!

We have two dining-out night's this month, OBLIOS and MARIA EMPANADA!

12. Discovery Link Summer Camp! 

If you are in need of Summer care and support, Discovery Link’s Summer Camp registration opens on Tuesday, 1/23/2024 at 6:00 am. The closest location to Teller is Dora Moore and it will be for school age students as well as ECE.

13. Girl Scout Cookie booth at Teller request

Support one of Teller’s Girl Scouts Troops on 2/15! From 2:30-4pm, they will have a booth set up on the north side of the field and will be selling Girl Scout cookies! Please come and support me if you can!

14. Welcome to the Kids Heart Challenge!

Kids Heart Challenge, formerly known as Jump Rope For Heart is Teller’s active, fun and educational program that’s rewarding for students, parents/guardians, and communities.  Students will be participating in jump rope during their PE classes and receive an informational packet in their classroom folders. The heart challenge fundraiser is optional and available for all students from January 3 - February 2.  Download the Kids Heart Challenge mobile app, register at heart.org/KHC or follow along with the informational packet.  Please reach out to Mr. Lingerfield, P.E. 15. STAND for Children

STAND Colorado advanced educational equity and racial justice in Colorado through meaningful partnerships with families, educators, schools and policymakers. They offer different resources for families to use including early literacy, high school success, justice system reform, and more!

16. CDE Office of Family, School, and Community Partnerships has so much to offer!

CDE's Office of FSCP works hard to provide districts across Colorado with resources and professional learning opportunities so that we can grow in our family engagement skills. Check out this Padlet that has all their resources in one place!
