3. Intent to Return Google Form- COMPLETE ASAP!

As we prepare for the 2024-2025 school year, our goal is to have an accurate student count so we can plan accordingly.

We value transparency and have always done our best to ensure our families have the most up to date information about Teller. With that being said, we want to make you aware of a significant schedule shift that is coming to Teller for the 2024-2025 school year. Our bell schedule will be staying the same Mondays through Thursdays. School will start at 7:40 a.m. and end at 2:40 p.m. Fridays will become an early release day with school starting at 7:40 a.m. and ending at 12:00 p.m. (noon) every week. Below is an overview of Teller's bell schedule for the 2024-2025 school year:

      • Monday - 7:40 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
      • Tuesday - 7:40 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
      • Wednesday - 7:40 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
      • Thursday - 7:40 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
      • Friday - 7:40 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon)

Early release days offer valuable opportunities for teachers to engage in professional development, plan lessons, and conduct data analysis. During these focused sessions, our teachers will attend professional development to refine their teaching skills and stay current with educational methodologies and technologies. The dedicated time also allows for collaborative efforts, as our teachers can work with colleagues to share best practices, align curriculum, and discuss strategies for improving student outcomes. The district does provide planning days, however, those days have set agendas for teachers and do not allow them to plan for their students and class. In short, these half-days will be a crucial component of ongoing professional growth and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement for our teachers.

In order to support Teller families, with childcare, we have confirmed that Discovery Link will be offered every Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Additionally, after school enrichment classes will be offered starting at noon.

Registration for both Discovery Link and after school enrichment will begin this spring. Please look for additional information about registration information in the coming months.

4. Welcome to the Kids Heart Challenge!

Kids Heart Challenge, formerly known as Jump Rope For Heart is Teller’s active, fun and educational program that’s rewarding for students, parents/guardians, and communities.  Students will be participating in jump rope during their PE classes and receive an informational packet in their classroom folders. The heart challenge fundraiser is optional and available for all students from January 3 - February 2.  Download the Kids Heart Challenge mobile app, register at heart.org/KHC or follow along with the informational packet.  Please reach out to Mr. Lingerfield, P.E. 5. A Message from Pantry Friends

The Pantry is stocked with some pretty amazing things this week! Come visit, take what you need for free, no questions asked. Please bring your own bag(s) if possible.

The Pantry hours have changed and are Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 2:45-4:00pm as well as Friday 7:15-9:15am & 1:30-4:00pm. We rely on volunteers and sometimes their schedules change, so please confirm that the pantry is open before coming, by checking Pantry Hours - updates.

BIG NEWS!! We have a donor that will match new donations up to $2,000! Please consider donating now to do 2x the good. Go HERE for details. Every dollar will help us continue to provide this gem of a resource, which is available to all current Teller families and staff, no questions asked, ever.

6. Changes to the ECE Application Process

All ECE-3 and ECE-4 families will need to participate in DPS SchoolChoice to match with their preferred school for the 2024-25 school year. This is a change from last year as families will be applying through DPS SchoolChoice first instead of Universal Preschool Colorado (UPK).

Schools should be directing families to the DPS SchoolChoice application for ECE enrollment. We strongly encourage families to submit their ECE application during Round 1, as this will offer them the best chance of obtaining a seat at their desired preschool program. Round 1 opens at 10 a.m. on Jan. 11 and closes at 4 p.m. on Feb. 12, 2024. After Round 1, the DPS Enrollment Services and Early Education teams will reach out to families to provide the next steps for completing an application for funding support through UPK.

Please refer to the Preschool Round 1 Toolkit for resources to support ECE enrollment for your families.

Questions? Contact Andrea Ives or Laurie Premer.

Construction Update- DEC. 29, 2023- STATUS

Soil conditioning—in preparation for the tunneling under Colorado—is underway. The crane was on site this week to place the first sections of box culvert. With that in place, pipe installation will begin. Work on the transition structure starts next week. The pipe crew has no Saturday work planned at this point, however, soil conditioning under Colorado Blvd. may require some Saturday work.

TRAVEL + PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

All closures remain in place, including signage at Jackson and Garfield between 13th and 4th. We ask that everyone be respectful of all signage and use caution when driving in the neighborhood.

Reminder: National Jewish Health patients can proceed through the local-traffic-only portion of the closure at E 14th Avenue and Josephine Street to access the National Jewish Health parking lot at E 14th Avenue and Jackson Street.

The soil conditioning work that is currently underway will necessitate some single lane closures along Colorado Blvd. on the 14th. The sidewalk on the south side of 14th—opposite the National Jewish Health loading dock area and the alley at Harrison—remains closed.

BE CAREFUL!

Work is in full swing on the site. Please be extremely careful around the work site, and please drive slowly in the area.
