  1. Minutes from CSC Meeting on November 7th, 2023

Link to the 11/17 minutes

The Collaborative School Committee (CSC) met last week on November 7 for their regular monthly meeting.  During the meeting we heard updates from Mrs. Bates, reviewed the root causes of the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) goals for the year, and made recommendations regarding programming at Teller for the 2024-2025 school year.  To help frame the programming recommendations, Mrs. Bates shared some challenges that Teller is facing including a lack of physical space, teacher morale, large class sizes and vacancies in paraprofessional positions.  Our UIP goals for this year are rooted in opportunities to implement new systems to support Social Emotional Instruction; Tier 2 Interventions in the classroom for behavior and academic issues; and differentiation and independent work in the classroom.   A full summary of the meeting can be found in the minutes posted on the Teller website.

The CSC is a group of teachers and parents whose role is to provide guidance and recommendations to the Principal about spending priorities, the school’s Unified Improvement Plan (UIP), and increasing family engagement.  Additionally, the CSC provides input on Program Design Changes, Principal Evaluation/Selection, School Schedules and Safety and Discipline Procedures.  The next CSC meeting will be held on Tuesday December 5 from 5-7 pm in the Teller Library.  Meetings are open to all and there is time set aside during each meeting for Public Comment where questions, concerns, pats on the back, etc. can be shared.

  1.  Jackson St. Storm Drain Project

UPDATES AS OF 11/14:

The Jackson St. team has offered to hire multiple UTCs (Uniform Traffic Control Officers) to support with increased traffic and car volume. These UTCs will be placed at 12th and Jackson and 12th and Garfield.  The Jackson St. team will be evaluating on a regular basis their traffic mitigation efforts and strategies. In collaboration with DPD, they will be placing a radar closer to the school to ensure the speed limit is being adhered to and that individuals are held accountable.

  UPCOMING TRAVEL IMPACTS

Before the project begins you may see some single lane closures along E 14th Ave.—and along Colorado Blvd.—in preparation for the start of the work.

Starting December 4, 2023 to early April 2024, the installation of stormwater pipes will require a full closure of E 14th Avenue—from just east of Jackson Street to Colorado Boulevard—for approximately four months. There will be a local-traffic-only closure on E 14th Avenue—east of Josephine—and we encourage drivers headed further east to utilize E 17th Avenue instead.

National Jewish Health patients will be able to proceed thru the local-traffic-only portion of the closure at E 14th Avenue and Josephine Street to access the National Jewish Health parking lot at E 14th Avenue and Jackson Street.
