All families will meet with their student’s teacher either on Monday 10/9, Tuesday 10/10, or Wednesday 10/18 at a prearranged and designated time from 3-7pm. If you have not secured your time with your teacher, please connect with them as soon as possible!

Fall CogAT Sign Up:

If you are interested in having your child (1st, 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade only) take the CogAT assessment this spring, please complete the nomination form. Applications can be found here. Applications for testing are due Friday, October 13th. Students can only take one cognitive assessment per calendar year, so if your child was already given the NNAT or the CogAT in the fall, they cannot be assessed again this fall.

During the fall semester, DPS students enrolled in Kindergarten, 2nd, and 6th grades are tested with the NNAT or NGAT as part of the universal screening process; those families do not need to submit this form unless their child was not assessed during the fall screening. If you have any questions, please contact marian_dorsey@dpsk12.org

Stormwater Project Coming to your neighborhood:

WHAT: The City & County of Denver, through its Department of Transportation & Infrastructure (DOTI), will soon begin work on a project that will include installing larger storm sewer pipe to better manage and improve flood mitigation during heavy rainstorms. This project is an open-cut storm sewer project with a twin tunnel underneath Colorado Blvd.

WHERE: The project extends from the intersection of Jackson St. and 14th Ave., across Colorado Blvd and south to the intersection of 13th Ave. and Colorado Blvd.

WHEN: The project is expected to start in November 2023 and last through January 2025.

TRAVEL IMPACTS: 14th Ave. will see a full closure for approximately 4 months. Colorado Blvd. will incur intermittent single lane closures throughout the project, and 13th Ave. will see a full closure for approximately 2 months.

With the necessary closures, this project will affect the Congress Park and Hale neighborhoods—and the traveling public—however, we will keep everyone updated as the project progresses. Detour signs and message boards will be in place throughout the duration of the project to alert commuters about the work and to expect delays. Impact / detour maps will also be included in our weekly email construction updates.
