07/31/23, 11:05 AM

Good Afternoon Teller Families!

Following up on this morning’s Welcome Back email, Teller will be having school-wide assessment days on Monday, August 21st and Tuesday, August 22nd with the first full day of school on Wednesday, August 23rd.

If you are currently registered for Discovery Link for the 2023-2024 school year and you need childcare one or both of these days, you can register for a Full Day Camp with Discovery Link via your Parent Managed Calendar on SchoolCareWorks.

If you are not currently registered for Discovery Link at Teller for the 2023-2024 school year, Teller's Discovery Link program is currently full and on a waitlist. If you’d like to add your child to the waitlist, please fill out this form: Google Waitlist form.

As a reminder, we are offering after school enrichment courses. You can access our course offerings here.

Below is a duplicate of the information shared by Mrs. Bates this morning regarding assessment days. If you have any questions or need clarification regarding our assessment days, please contact sabrina_bates@dpsk12.net.

Assessment Day Reminders:

  • Required Assessment Days for Kindergarten - 5th Grade Students

    • Teachers will individually assess every Kindergarten through 5th grade. Data collected during these assessment days will allow our teachers to gain insights into students' abilities, needs, and interests. Your child will attend the assessment day and time that corresponds to the first letter of their last name (below). On assessment days, families will enter the playground and find the door that corresponds to the first letter of their child’s last name. Teller staff members will be located at each door, checking students in. Parents/guardians will pick their child up at the end of their designated assessment period on the playground.

  • Required Assessment Days and Orientation for ECE (Preschool) Students

    • All ECE families will be required to attend an ECE orientation on Tuesday, August 22nd. Orientation will start promptly at 8:00 a.m. and end at 9:30 a.m. During this time, families will learn the ins and outs of ECE, complete necessary paperwork, and tour our ECE classrooms. It is imperative that you bring your child with you as they will be participating in various activities to prepare them for the first day of school. After orientation ends, ECE parents/guardians will leave the school. ECE students will stay with their teachers until 3:00 p.m. to complete a round of assessments. On Tuesday, August 22nd, ECE families (and children) will gather on the ECE playground (corner of 11th Ave. and Garfield St.) before heading into the building. At 3:00 p.m. ECE students will be picked up by their parents/guardian on the ECE playground.

    • Please note, there is no ECE on Monday, August 21st as this is a district-wide training day for all ECE teachers.
