Dear Teller Families,

We hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of summer break! With the start of the 2023/2024 school year right around the corner, we wanted to make sure you had the most up to date information. This letter is lengthy, but we promise it is worth the read.

Before you get started, if your child or children are not planning to return to Teller this fall, please email treisi_martinez@dpsk12.net.

  • Fall Registration

    • All families must complete fall registration via Parent Portal by Friday, August 11th. Failure to do so could result in your child(ren) missing the first day of school.

      • Registration Opens: Sunday, July 30th

      • Registration Closes: Friday, August 11th

  • Required Assessment Days for Kindergarten - 5th Grade Students

    • This year, our teachers will individually assess every Kindergarten through 5th grade student prior to the start of the school year. Data collected during these assessment days will allow our teachers to gain insights into students' abilities, needs, and interests. Our assessment days are Monday, August 21st and Tuesday, August 22nd. Your child will attend the assessment day and time that corresponds to the first letter of their last name. On assessment days, families will enter the playground and find the door that corresponds to the first letter of their child’s last name. Teller staff members will be located at each door, checking students in. Parents/guardians will pick their child up at the end of their designated assessment period on the playground.

  • Required Assessment Days and Orientation for ECE (Preschool) Students
    • All ECE families will be required to attend an ECE orientation on Tuesday, August 22nd. Orientation will start promptly at 8:00 a.m. and end at 9:30 a.m. During this time, families will learn the ins and outs of ECE, complete necessary paperwork, and tour our ECE classrooms. It is imperative that you bring your child with you as they will be participating in various activities to prepare them for the first day of school. After orientation ends, ECE parents/guardians will leave the school. ECE students will stay with their teachers until 3:00 p.m. to complete a round of assessments. On Tuesday, August 22nd, ECE families (and children) will gather on the ECE playground (corner of 11th Ave. and Garfield St.) before heading into the building. At 3:00 p.m. ECE students will be picked up by their parents/guardian on the ECE playground.

    • Please note, there is no ECE on Monday, August 21st as this is a district-wide training day for all ECE teachers.

  • First Day of School
