Dear Teller Families,

Happy New Year! I am so pleased to be back in the building after participating in a host to adopt program through CCAI during the month of December. Our hosting experience was truly life changing, and we can’t wait to complete the adoption of Dayana. With that being said, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the entire Teller community for your love, support, words of encouragement, gifts, and monetary donations. Our family got to spend time bonding with Dayana. We enjoyed viewing holiday lights at Elitch Gardens, making arepas, manicures and pedicures, dinner at Benihanas, shopping, snow tubing in Winter Park, swimming at The Great Wolf Lodge, and celebrating Christmas as a family. Our goal is to complete the endless amounts of paperwork, travel to Colombia, and have Dayana back with us as soon as possible. We look forward to continuing to share our adoption journey with you all.

Sincerely,

The Bates Family

Universal Preschool Colorado (UPK)

Along with other Colorado school districts, DPS is working with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) to continue expanding its Early Childhood Education program by rolling out a new enrollment process for Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado. This new program will provide additional funding opportunities for our ECE-providing schools and district partners, including charter schools and private ECE providers.

As a reminder, the first UPK Colorado application window will open on Tuesday, January 17th and close February 15th -- please note that this window is separate from our DPS SchoolChoice window (January 13th through February 14th).

All ECE-3 and ECE-4 families must complete both a SchoolChoice application and a UPK Colorado application.

Below are important resources families as they get ready to complete applications for ECE:

  • FAQ: Access FAQs that are specific to DPS. We will continue to update questions and answers as they come in.

  • Note: Translations are in progress and will be made available here.

  • Letter to Families: Please share this letter with ECE-3 and ECE-4 families as soon as possible as it explains timelines and provides steps to apply through the SchoolChoice system and the UPK Colorado system.

  • Note: Translations are in progress and will be made available here.
