A Note From Mrs. Bates

As my leave of absence is quickly approaching, I wanted to remind you that I will be out of the building Monday, November 28, 2022 through Friday, December 16, 2022 to participate in a host to adopt program with CCAI. On November 29th, my family and I will be welcoming Dayana (13) to our family for five weeks. Once our host period ends, our hope is to submit a letter of intent to adopt Dayana.

I have been working behind the scenes to prepare the school for my leave. With that being said, I made the decision to hire an interim principal to support our students and staff while I am out.

Please help me welcome Tayna Carter to Teller. Mrs. Carter has worked many years in the district where she has served as a principal and Instructional Superintendent. We are so excited to to have Mrs. Carter at Teller, and I can’t wait for her to meet our amazing students, staff, and families.

What Are We Raising Money For?

The money raised during Totally Teller supports the PTA's annual financial gift to the school, programs and events, and one-time, specific needs that are requested by school leadership. These funds directly support Teller's dedicated team of teachers and staff, and allows them to invest in all of our kids. We've broken it down for you below:

  • The PTA commits to an annual gift of $135k paid directly to the school. This funding is used for school operations and is allocated by school leadership. The PTA gift allows school leadership flexibility in solving challenging staffing and programming decisions.

  • Additional funds raised are used for Staff Grants (this year's grant focus is on Professional and Personal Well-being and Team Building), staff appreciation throughout the year, and support of community events at the school like Fall Festival and Family Game Night (which will return in January!)

  • When a surplus of funds is raised (more than is needed to satisfy the PTA's annual commitments), the PTA supports items outside of the regular budget. For example, in the last few years, because of your generous donations, the PTA was able to replace all of the blinds in the classrooms to help with security and temperature control, install water bottle filling stations across the building, add the beautiful murals that you see on the building's exterior and cafeteria, and purchase 70 new iPads for the kindergarten and MIA classrooms.
