Way To Go School Pool

Dear Teller Parents and Guardians,

Happy October! We hope that your year is off to a great start. With so many wonderful events already in the books (and many more to look forward to), it feels great to be back in-person with this wonderful community.

As we shared in August, the PTA is committed to supporting a healthy lifestyle for all of our children so that they can thrive in school and beyond. In partnership with Mrs. Bates and Teller’s amazing teachers, we continue to invest in tangible school upgrades and enhancements, as well as programming that builds community and connection.

To further these goals, our next exciting launch is waytogo, a car/bike/walk pool program that will kick off on National Walk and Roll Day, Wednesday, October 12th. Instructions to sign up and opt-in can be found here. You can preview the waytogo site and sign up here.

Rather than identifying specific routes with parent led bike trains (which proved hard to maintain), this site will allow us to find neighbors and friends with overlapping commuting needs. For example, groups of 4th and 5th graders can bike to school together. Parents and children in ECE and Kindergarten can walk and scoot together. Enrichment and Discovery Link groups can be formed. Or, families that choice-in from neighborhoods outside of Congress Park and South City Park can carpool to reduce emissions and hopefully alleviate some logistical stress. The possibilities are endless!

In the next week, teachers will facilitate in-school road safety training and throughout the year, the PTA’s Sustainability Committee will continue to support this initiative through bike repair and maintenance sessions, gear swaps, incentives and more (all ideas welcome!)

Help us celebrate, with a festive kick-off next Wednesday, 10/12, at 7:20AM at Teller’s front entrance. If you have any questions about this initiative, or would like to get involved, please email membership@tellerpta.org or any of the PTA Sustainability Committee members below.

Sincerely,

The Teller Elementary PTA Board & The PTA Sustainability Committee
