Atlantis Community, Inc., a Center for Independent Living that advocates for people with disabilities of all kinds, is developing a paid summer youth internship program and is seeking its first round of participants.
Atlantis Community, Inc. is seeking high school students in the Denver Metro area ages 15-20 to be part of the development of our program. This 20-hour internship will include shadowing, training, and creating a self-led learning project. Students will learn about disability rights, job skills, and the operations of a Center for Independent Living. This will be a one month summer program in July in which students will receive a lump sum of $500 upon completion of their final project.
Themes for the summer internship are as follows:
Week1: Atlantis Community, Inc. and Disability History
Week 2: Individual Disability Advocacy
Week 3: Systems Change Disability Advocacy
Week 4: Disability Advocacy Today
