Spring-Behavior and Emotional Screening System (BESS)
04/13/23, 3:52 PM
Hello Howell Parents and Guardians,
Starting April 3rd 2023, Denver Public Schools started the Spring-Behavior and Emotional Screening System (BESS) for students, teachers, and guardians throughout the entire district.
The BESS screener, is a tool designed to help our schools recognize students that may need social-emotional support, adjust district support systems, develop tiered interventions, track progress and determine effectiveness of interventions. The results of this screener are kept confidential in the online platform called Review360.
Guardians will be asked to complete 29 questions online, using the hyperlink titled (use student's DPS Identification number to log-in): “BESS link for Parent/Guardian”. More than one adult-family-member can answer the BESS-parent-report, which takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. The screener portal will close on May 5th.
If you have any questions/concerns, or if you’d like to review your child’s screener-results after May 5th, please contact Ammiel Ortiz-Therapeutic Service Provider at Farrell B. Howell. Call or email: (720) 424-2744, ammiel_ortiz@dpsk12.net.
