Passive Consent For BESS

Dear Howell Families,
On September 19th, 2022 we will conduct a school-wide screener called BESS (Behavior and Emotional Screening System). This short screener, will ask our students questions that will reflect on the their social-emotional state. The goal of the BESS, is to give our school-staff a better understanding of which students might need extra support as they work hard to complete this academic school year.
If you agree for your child to participate in the BESS screener, no further action is required.
If you DO NOT want your child to take the BESS screener, please fill out the attached form, and email back to: ammiel_ortiz@dpsk12.net or hand-deliver to Ammiel Ortiz at Farell B. Howell school-office. The BESS is NOT mandatory, and there won't be any negative repercussions if you select for your child to not take part in screening.
