COVID Case Updates (January 24, 2021)

07/18/22, 4:48 PM

Dear Farrell B. Howell ECE-8 School Families,

It is our priority to keep you updated and informed of incidents related to health/safety and I wanted to update you regarding new confirmed cases of COVID-19 which have been reported to me since my previous update:

  • A student or staff member within the MI Center was diagnosed with COVID-19, close contacts of this individual case were notified by the school nurse and instructed to quarantine (if required.)
  • A student or staff member within 6th Grade was diagnosed with COVID-19, close contacts of this individual case were notified by the school nurse and instructed to quarantine (if required.)
  • A student or staff member within 7th Grade was diagnosed with COVID-19, close contacts of this individual case were notified by the school nurse and instructed to quarantine (if required.)
  • A student or staff member within Kindergarten was diagnosed with COVID-19, close contacts of this individual case were notified by the school nurse and instructed to quarantine (if required.)
  • I was also notified of two historical cases in 4th and 7th Grade. Since these were both a couple of weeks ago we were unable to identify and notify potentially exposed students.

As always, students with any symptoms of COVID-9 should remain home and seek evaluation for COVID-19. Not all cases of COVID present with fever or loss of taste or smell; even mild symptoms that resemble the common cold can actually be COVID-19.

All of these individuals were instructed to isolate at home until they are no longer considered contagious following our current state and local guidelines.

If you have any concerns about your student's health, we encourage you to contact the Denver Health School Based Health Center team at 303-602-8958 (or your primary care provider) for further evaluation and possible testing. Please remember to report any positive cases of COVID or possible exposure within your household by calling me at 720-424-2746. I am here to provide you with the best information and guidance about when students should remain home and help ensure the health of our entire Howell family.

Sincerely,

Richard Ruthersby, BSN, RN, NCSN
