Remote Learning Preparation

07/18/22, 4:48 PM

Good Afternoon Howell Families,

Due to the large spike of COVID cases due to the highly contagious Omicron variant Denver Public Schools, like school districts across the state and country, continue to face severe staffing shortages that may cause schools (including Farrell B. Howell ECE-8 School) to make a temporary shift to remote learning. We know this is a burden on our students and families, and we are committed to making sure that it is only done when all other staffing options have been exhausted and it’s clear that COVID challenges have led to so many staff absences that the school cannot open safely for in-person learning and support.

Although we are not currently moving any of our grade level groups or classrooms to a remote learning environment at this time, we are taking steps to prepare our students for this possibility. Today our teachers worked with students to ensure they understood the online learning technology we would use and how they would access their education if an entire classroom or grade level group moved to remote learning.

*In the event we needed to move a classroom or grade level to remote learning for any reason we would notify you as soon as that decision was made so you and your family could plan accordingly. That notification would provide you additional information about remote learning at that time.

Have a good evening and stay health and safe,

Rachel Massey
Principal, Farrell B. Howell ECE-8 School
