Health Reminders

07/18/22, 4:48 PM

Good Evening Howell Families,

Just a couple of health reminders and notices from your school nurse:

  • Please make sure to keep students who are ill or who have any COVID symptoms at home. It is the responsibility of every Howell family member to keep our school community healthy.
    • When to Keep Sick Children Home (English)
    • Symptoms of COVID-19 include: Loss of taste or smell; Feeling feverish, having chills, temperature of 100.4F or greater; New or worsening cough; Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; Sore throat; Runny nose or congestion; Muscle or body aches; Headache; Fatigue; Nausea or vomiting; Diarrhea
    • FREE COVID-19 TESTING: Students and families are able to receive free COVID-19 testing (with or without symptoms) through the State of Colorado. To schedule a test, visit https://www.primarybio.com/l/cdphe.
  • Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) will be at Farrell B. Howell ECE-8 School on Thursday, Oct 14th from 1p to 4p providing 1st & 2nd Pfizer COVID shots for anyone age 12 or older. Make an appointment here: https://www.comassvax.org//appointment/en/reg/1560221972 (Versión en español)
  • Starting last week we provided every Howell student with at least one reusable cloth facial covering to use at school and home. I encourage you to use these reusable cloth facial coverings, as the disposable masks are a limited resource that we cannot provide students everyday and disposable masks create a lot of a waste in the environment. We do have a limited supply of disposable masks if something happens to a student's reusable mask while at school, but will stop handing out disposable masks to every student at our entrances starting next week.
    • Please feel free to call our main office or myself if your student needs additional reusable masks and we'll see how we can accommodate.
  • As well, I wanted to let you know that sometimes we use alcohol-based hand sanitizers around the school and at times when access to soap and water is limited. This includes field trips, outdoor events, classrooms without a sink, etc.
    • This does NOT apply to our ECE students, but all other students may interact with the alcohol-based hand sanitizers infrequently, only when soap and water is not available.
    • If your student has sensitive skin or a skin condition that using hand sanitizer would cause them harm please reach out to me via email or phone to ensure we are aware and can make alternative plans.
  • Thank you for your time and attention to these matters,
