3/9 Campus Secure Perimeter Far Northeast Schools

Dear KIPP Colorado Team & Family,
As you know, student safety and well-being are our highest priorities at KIPP Colorado. With that in mind, I am writing to inform you of a recent incident near our Far Northeast schools, KIPP Northeast Elementary, KIPP Northeast Denver Middle School, and KIPP Northeast Denver Leadership Academy. This morning, our schools followed the Denver Police Department's request for a Secure Perimeter (formally known as a lockout) due to police activity in the area. The Secure Perimeter lasted 15 minutes. During that time, we immediately followed the secure protocol. All students and staff were safe and continue to be.
Our top priority at KIPP Colorado is to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our students. We are committed to safety in all parts of the school experience, and that means quickly responding to incidents such as these. We are grateful to all of our KIPPsters who responded in an appropriate and swift manner.
