Caregiver Communication (evacuation + incident)

04/24/24, 12:20 PM

Dear KNDLA Community,

At KNDLA, student safety is our highest priority. We are committed to keeping our community updated when situations arise that disrupt the safety and learning on campus, which we take extremely seriously and address immediately.

At approximately 10:05 AM the fire alarm malfunctioned at the Regis Groff Campus. The building was cleared by the Fire Department by 10:20 AM. During the evacuation process, there was a physical altercation between two KNDLA students that was public. Our staff were able to de-escalate the situation and all students are safe. We are investigating the entirety of the situation and will take disciplinary action per our Family Handbook. The students found to have been involved will receive consequences consistent with the DPS Discipline Matrix

In addition, we have worked with the Fire Department to resolve any malfunction and the alarm system is functioning properly at this time.

We greatly appreciate the continued trust in our team and the support for our work to ensure that our students are on the path to a choice-filled life.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me at lpeters@kippcolorado.org if you have any questions or additional information about this incident.

In Partnership,

Leah Peters
